CliffsNote: In her biography, Omar makes clear she was eight in 1989 and therefore nineteen in 2000 when her father was naturalized (and therefore ineligible for citizenship by descent).

An Open Concern About Appearances: The Catholic Church and the Midterms I am Catholic. I say the rosary. I go to Mass. Nothing in what follows is an accusation against the Church, the Pope, or any bishop. It is a concern about how things look from the outside, and how that appearance is landing with millions of Americans right now. This administration created a Justice Department task force on anti-Christian bias, pardoned twenty-three pro-life prisoners, stood up a White House Faith Office and a Religious Liberty Commission, designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern over the killing of Christians, and cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood. For a Catholic writer, that record is not nothing. It is, on its face, one of the most tangible pro-life and pro-faith agendas in modern presidential history. In January 2025, the same administration suspended the refugee and migrant service contracts that had funded the USCCB and Catholic Charities for decades. Over one hundred million dollars a year. More than ninety-five percent of some program budgets. By spring, staff were laid off. By summer, agencies were closing programs. The money did not come back. Institutions that lose their largest funding stream tend to find their moral vocabulary sharpening in the same direction as their budgets. I am not saying that is what happened. I am saying that is what it looks like, and that appearance is not going unnoticed. Fourteen months later, in April 2026, the public statements from the Vatican and from American bishops toward this administration grew noticeably louder and more pointed than anything seen during the first term. Catholics see it. Non-Catholics see it. And when a bishop speaks out days before a national election against one party’s immigration positions—which are prudential disagreements open to debate—while remaining silent on the other’s platform positions that contradict settled Church teaching on life, on the body, on marriage, the imbalance is impossible to miss. I am not suggesting the Church holds a grudge, or that its silence on one side was bought. I am saying that is the appearance, and appearances are what most Americans, Catholic and not, actually see. When the institution that spent a year without its largest funding stream then directs its public voice at one party near an election—the very party that delivered more concrete protections for Christian life and religious liberty than perhaps any administration in living memory—the appearance is not of a shepherd. It is of a stakeholder. That is the embarrassment I cannot unsee. -- Joseph Fosco October 27, 2026

Fani Willis is throwing herself a multi-day 55th birthday festival in Atlanta. The “Double Nickel Sneaker Gala” venue is still a mystery. Just follow the odor of mendacity and listen for the jingling coins.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar writes in her memoir, “I was eight years old when civil war broke out in Somalia. One day everything was okay, and the next, there were bullets piercing not only buildings but also people.” While Somalia has suffered several civil wars, the chapter is entitled, “War: 1989-1991, Mogadishu, Somalia.” Mogadishu experienced severe riots in July 1989, including a mass execution that became known as the “Jazeera beach massacre.” If, in her own words in her own autobiography, Omar was eight when this occurred in 1989, then she was born in 1981, and was 19 years old in the year 2000, when her father purportedly obtained his citizenship, not 1982 as she currently claims.

In 1991, when I was the executive director of the Georgia Republican Party, I helped organize a bus trip to Washington to support the confirmation of our native son, Clarence Thomas of Pinpoint, Georgia. Yes, a very joyful date in history.
35 YEARS AGO TODAY, Justice Clarence Thomas officially joined the Supreme Court as an Associate Justice. What a JOYFUL date in history! He is our nation’s greatest Justice and an American Hero! Justice Thomas took his judicial oath on this date, administered by Chief Justice Rehnquist. He took his Constitutional oath, administered by Justice Byron White, on October 18th at the White House on the South Lawn. Here is an excerpt from his beautiful speech on that date: “Since that bright sunny day in Kennebunkport, July 1, there have been many difficult days as we all went through the confirmation battle - and I mean we all. But on this sunny day in October at the White House, there is joy, joy in the morning.” As Justice Thomas wrote in his memoirs, “I was alluding to Psalm 30, which had brought me much comfort in the recent weeks.” Justice Thomas quoted the verse in his book: “I will praise you, LORD, for you have rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me . . . Weeping may go on all night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30: 1,5 Read his gripping memoirs, My Grandfather’s Son, watch the terrific documentary, Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words, and the book of the same name, and read Senator @tedcruz terrific new book, Going Further, The Incomparable Clarence Thomas – all linked below. God Bless Justice Clarence Thomas!

What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.
