OurSummit students got to roll up their sleeves and explore what a future in the trades could look like! At Tulare County Office of Education Trades Day, students tried hands-on activities and learned about a variety of careers!
We have kicked back in our board student recognition awards for the year and Jim Maples Academy brought forward three amazing student leaders to be honored. I always enjoy starting meetings honoring the students we serve and remembering why we are here!
Had the privilege of delivering two more Superintendent Honor Coins today to two very deserving students. Definitely a highlight of my week to let a student know that a staff member nominated them and then following up with a positive phone call home!!

Every school day is filled with unexpected glitches and hiccups.
The best leaders respond with poise, perseverance, and a positive attitude.
The school assembly went longer than expected, and now the lunch schedule is a mess.
A student threw up in the hallway, and the custodian is at lunch.
Two subs didn’t show up, and 50 students need supervision.
A parent’s car died in the carpool line and created a traffic jam.
A teacher forgot to submit her professional leave form.
If you are a school administrator, you have probably never had a day go exactly as planned.
Something always happens.
The best leaders understand this. They don’t allow every glitch to become a crisis, and they certainly don’t let a few unexpected problems ruin their day.
They prioritize what matters, solve what they can, and take the rest in stride.
Because when the leader gets stressed, everyone else feels it.
But the opposite is also true.
When leaders respond to the challenges of the day with grace, perspective, and a positive attitude, they set the tone for everyone around them. They reassure their staff and model a constructive way to deal with adversity.
Being “positive” doesn’t mean pretending every day is a great day. We all have rough days.
It means keeping things in perspective.
It means refusing to let the frustrations of the day determine the energy we bring to the people around us.
And it means remembering that we can still choose to make a difference—even when the day doesn’t cooperate.
Tomorrow, we won’t be able to control the weather.
We can’t control the attitudes of every student.
We can’t control the number of annoying emails that flood our inbox.
But we can control the number of times we smile.
We can control the number of high fives we give.
We can control how we respond when something goes wrong.
And we can control the energy we bring to work.
So rock on…
Danny

Every. Interaction. Matters.
You won’t get every conversation right. Nobody does.
Show up. Pay attention. Follow through.
The little moments determine how people respond when the big moment arrives.

The things that matter don’t always feel significant when they start. Remember that the small actions of today become the great stories that are told in 30 years. Knowing that makes the toughest days a little bit better. #LeadFromWhoYouAre #1minwalk2work
Our CTE Pop Up Event this afternoon highlighted some young entrepreneurs from @BurtonSchools who have created their own businesses with real business models in action. Impressive real world skills!! #BurtonExperience

Had a great time visiting the Fair this morning and seeing our high school students teaching our 2nd graders about all things related to the farm and animals. Always fun to see our kids out of the classroom and in different setting like this!! #BurtonExperience
Great reminder! The best conversations happen when you slow down and really be present rather than just visible!!
Your PACE tells people if they are valued or in the way. I used to rush through the building as often as I could and called it being visible. It wasn’t. It was fast. It was checking a box. It wasn’t connected. BE PRESENT. As much as you can. #LeadFromWhoYouAre
