Our pilot is funded entirely by philanthropy, but we believe this program’s success will change how our public systems work. Recently TRiO joined @buffywicks to increase funding allocated to teacher residencies in the most recent state budget.

This message is simple: this model works. TRiO has tripled the number of BIPOC teacher residents in OUSD and now supports 30 educators who reach & teach 4000 Oakland students. The 9yr pilot is projected to serve 112 + teachers, impacting 50,000+ students. ktvu.com/news/1st-of-its-kin…

Proud to join with community partners to expand our innovative affordable housing pilot to recruit and retain BIPOC teachers in Oakland by supporting them with a guaranteed income and reduced-priced housing. We want to keep our teachers, like Mr. O, rooted in Oakland.
