Friends, In 2023, we provided healthcare for 40 kids and Jajja Flo. This year, we want to do more; secure education for 24 children. No child should miss out on learning because of a lack of tuition. Please consider donating, every contribution counts. 🙏

What a day! Today marks my last day as Managing Director of @BPRbankrw since Feb 2023. The last 45 months have been nothing short of remarkable. I’ve been stretched, I’ve served, learnt and grown tremendously. I’ve been deeply passionate about serving and have watched the bank transform in ways that are hard to describe. We have achieved a lot collectively. This would not have been possible without the support of the BPR Board of Directors, @kcbgroup the Regional Powerhouse under the leadership of @Saagite, colleagues, partners, and above all, our customers. I celebrate the connections that this work has opened up to me and the bonds created that will last a lifetime. Looking back at what we have achieved, there is so much to be proud of, but I’ll mention a few: 1️⃣ Customer confidence was significantly enhanced post merger, with the net promoter score improving from 46 in 2023 to 88 by mid 2026. Amidst a challenging environment, we successfully merged & upgraded our core banking system and earned back customer trust. 2️⃣ Shareholder confidence in the bank increased significantly, with the bank paying dividends in 2024 and 2025, for the first time since BPR became a commercial bank in 2007. In the last 3 years, the minority shareholders have been actively registered, received share certificates, and are finally able to trade shares. 3️⃣ Total Assets: doubled from RWF 747 Billion by end of2022 to RWF 1.5 Trillion by June 2026. 4️⃣ Customer deposits: grew by 136% from RWF 526 Billion to over RWF 1 Trillion by June 2026 signaling increased confidence in BPR. 5️⃣ Loans to customers: increased by 122% from RWF 457 Billion in 2022 to over RWF 1 Trillion by June 2026, because we believe that the private sector is the engine of Rwanda’s growth. 6️⃣ Revenue: BPR’s total revenue grew from RWF 72 Billion by the end of 2022 to over RWF 115 Billion by end of 2025, with growth continuing in 2026. 7️⃣ Profit Before Tax: increased from RWF 32 Billion by the end of 2022 to over RWF 58 Billion by end of 2025, with continued growth in 2026.

"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.

The dollar moved from UGX 3,800 to UGX 4,120. A fuel importer paying $1 million now needs UGX 4.12 billion instead of UGX 3.8 billion, an extra UGX 320 million. That pressure can feed into pump prices. A $20,000 car goes from about UGX 76 million to UGX 82.4 million, before taxes and other costs. A $500 phone moves from about UGX 1.9 million to UGX 2.06 million before retailer margins and taxes. Imported construction machinery, equipment and some materials become more expensive, raising construction costs. Even locally produced food can become more expensive because farmers and businesses face higher costs for fuel, machinery, fertiliser, packaging and transportation.
Okay; 1-The dollar is at 4000+ 2-Fuel is at 7000+⬆️going up. 3-The rain is stuck up there and it has refused to fall down. 4-The Sun burned all the crops in people’s garden. Economists, are we safe??

I always encourage people to learn how to think in systems. Not in fragments. Not in isolated moments. In systems. Because life doesn't happen in pieces. It happens in connections. Everything is linked. Your health affects your mood. Your mood affects your relationships. Your relationships affect your work. Your work affects your income. Your income affects your peace. Your peace affects your health again. Round and round. A loop. A system. Most people live inside it without ever seeing it.
