Tragic. Utterly tragic. Faith fails. Family crumbles. Fear reigns. Future hopeless. Delightfully crafted narrative through the female protagonists, but they narrate a brutal missionary, arrogant colonialists and a wake of wreckage both personally and nationally.

Kingsolver doesn’t offer it—but the gospel is the only remedy to this tragic tale.

Just submitted the manuscript for my next book. Prayers appreciated for the editorial process now. Should be available at some point in 2027.

You can call Jesus Lord, but if your life doesn’t back up that claim with obedience, it’s empty words. If Jesus is truly Lord we must live like it! #Luke #DailyReadings

Do you feel your sin acutely? Take heart, for Jesus came to call not the righteous, but sinners to repentance #Luke #DailyReadings

One day, in Bethlehem, for us was born a Saviour—who is Christ the Lord. This is good news of great joy. Live like it! #Luke #DailyReadings

Delighted to see the first review of my *Hope for a New David* published in the latest edition of JETS. Conclusion: “This is a solid work and one I hope will have a significant place in Psalms scholarship for a long foreseeable future.”

#Luke describes the events of Jesus’s life as the things accomplished and the fulfillment of the word the Lord has spoken. These events were anticipated and their taking place is confirmation of God’s truthfulness and goodness #DailyReadings

“He is risen; he is not here.” One of the most incredibly earth-shattering assertions. Jesus is alive #Mark #DailyReadings

Each of us is Judas—betraying Jesus for something we deem more valuable. Each of us is Peter—denying Jesus for what we deem as self-preservation. Yet, for us, Jesus endured distress, trouble and sorrow to death—seeing us as valuable enough to give his life #Mark #DailyReadings

Jesus demands that his followers live expecting his return. Is this how we live? Have you planned your day anticipating Jesus will return? #Mark #DailyReadings

In what manner do we welcome Christ into our lives? If begrudgingly, we concede we don’t really welcome him. If with cries of, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”, we get closer to the jubilation of recognition of who he really is #Mark #DailyReadings

As Jesus demonstrated with his sacrifice in our place, the Christian life is one where the last shall be first, the least shall be greatest, the servant shall be exalted—eventually! #Mark #DailyReadings

Jesus’s grace and patience are remarkable. Even with disbelieving, dimwitted disciples and proud, petulant Pharisees and eager, exploitative crowds he explains, teaches and heals—and he is just as patient with us today #Mark #DailyReadings

“God works, as is very well known, in mysterious ways” ~ Adah Price #ThePoisonwoodBible Sometimes those mysterious ways are tragically difficult!

Academically, I want to quibble with a few details in this book. As scholarship, though, it is an excellent treatment of the Psalter’s final book.

Devotionally and big-picture wise, I love the trajectory, conclusion and the emphasis of seeing Christ in all the Scriptures. I’m sorry this wasn’t available to me when I was completing my PhD. It would’ve been most helpful! I’ll have a fuller review forthcoming in Themelios.
