Peter Molyneux says the games industry is basically pretending it doesn’t use AI.
“We, as the industry, are pretending we’re not using AI,” he said, arguing that it’s now “almost impossible to code” without AI assistance.
He claims devs can often avoid Steam’s AI disclosure by simply not ticking the AI box, despite using AI tools for coding.
Molyneux also believes AI could become one of the biggest creative advances for studios once the industry moves beyond low-quality “AI slop.”

Indie game devs are told to build communities before launch, but doing so risks exposing their games to AI clones. Even after release, they risk being copied before they can profit. We were told Ai will help the small guy... Instead it's hurting them too.

Noch nie wen so sehr AI lutschen gesehen. Versucht echt alles um uns zu überzeugen. Aber ne. Never werd ich Art damit machen lassen. Auch meinen Code nicht. Bei super spezifischen Problemen AI als Google nutzen is das Maximum was ich tun werde, aber meinen Code schreib ich selbst

Maximal demotiviert und depressed. Nichts klappt, die Chancen nen Job zu bekommen, die eh schon quasi null waren gehen immer nur weiter runter. Und es hilft auch nicht, wenn ich ständig gesagt bekomm ich soll suchen und Bewerbungen raushauen. Tu ich ja, es juckt nur niemanden
Das ist halt leider auch noch ein riesiger Punkt weshalb ich null Motivation mehr hab. Imagine ich schaffs tatsächlich mal irgendwas halbwegs beliebtes zu machen. Juckt weil ist innerhalb von n paar Stunden als absoluter Slip in Roblox und bekommt viel mehr Spieler und Money
Dieses Ding hat so wilde Bugs, never würden die jemals auftreten, würde man nicht komplett vibe coden und actually verstehen was man da tut, aber was weiß ich schon
