Geoffrey Barrow, in his inaugural lecture as Professor of Scottish History, University of Edinburgh, 1979: "The failure of Scotland to establish its own organisation for public service broadcasting was the greatest cultural disaster which Scotland suffered in the 20th century."

“Perhaps my best story that never made the papers was the day I came out of the David Kelly inquiry and rang my news editor to say the ambulance crew had questioned the slash marks on his wrist being the wrong way round, only to be told, ‘No, that’s not the line we’re going on.’” Important article from 30 year Fleet Street veteran Melissa Kite (@melissakite1) about how the ‘media’ lies by omission to run PR for enemies of the people. Your body has a dial for every nutrient you were told to fear and no dial at all for the one you were told to cook with. Your body has a thermostat for cholesterol. Eat more and the liver makes less. Your body has a thermostat for vitamin D. Stand in the sun too long and the skin destroys the surplus. Your body has a thermostat for iron. Take in too much and the gut simply stops absorbing it. Your body has a thermostat for salt. Too much and you drink, the kidney dumps it, and the matter is closed by morning. Your body has a thermostat for protein. The surplus goes through the liver, out as urea, no harm done. Your body has a thermostat for glucose. One teaspoon in the blood, insulin on standby, the rest put away. Your body has a thermostat for water. It is called thirst, and it has never once needed an app. Your body has no thermostat for seed oil. Linoleic acid goes into your fat and sits there for about two years. Your body has no thermostat for fructose. The liver takes the lot, no questions, and turns the overflow into fat. Everything with a dial was there for two million years, and the body built a dial because it expected plenty. The two with no dial arrived last century, and the body never saw enough of either to bother. They told you to fear the nutrients with a thermostat and to fry in the one without.

When is the Scottish government going to ask how much the Scottish office/Douglas Alexander is influencing the output from BBC Scotland. The amount of propaganda and SNPbad must be getting pushed from the top levels.

Never forget these submarines carry weapons of mass destruction & are based in our country against our will: teapawt.org/ArgyllSeaGlass/status/… They also place Scotland in serious jeopardy from nuclear attack. They should not be on Scottish soil.
Submarine on the Clyde this afternoon heading to Faslane, possibly a homecoming 🤷‍♂️ Filmed from Kilcreggan in Argyll Scotland looking over to Gourock

No, they really, really don’t and until folk accept this unfortunate fact we’re going nowhere fast.
Does the SNP really want Scottish independence? || Kevin McKenna "Since they succeeded in removing Alex Salmond from the conversation, the SNP’s independence strategy has been stunning in its simplicity. It’s encapsulated in a single, overriding quest: how to convince the required sufficiency of voters that you are fighting for independence while at the same time covertly ensuring that it won’t happen any time soon? "It’s an intricate and delicate high-wire act that requires careful management. There are many moving parts in maintaining the chimera. It also involves a secondary deception: that of appearing to rebuke Westminster politics while feeding ravenously from its endless trough. "In turn, this conceals a third grand illusion: that those selfless tribunes of the Scottish people who volunteer for active service behind enemy lines do so reluctantly for the higher purpose of ‘Standing up for Scotland’ (copyright). Spinning all of these plates in the air is a gruelling enterprise, but the rewards are there for all to see. "If you can maintain this complex conjuration right up to – and including – a Holyrood election campaign, you get to add another few years to the pension plan. You can rest easy for a while and get a decent seat beside the buffet carriage on the 24/7 Caledonian Gravy Train express." 👇 𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘎𝘌: 𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘯/𝘗𝘈 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦/𝘗𝘈 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴

Director: "Rolling. What's the secret to living to a hundred here?" Shepherd: "Lamb." Director: "Cut. We're going to say beans." Shepherd: "I don't eat beans." Director: "You eat them sometimes." Shepherd: "When the lamb runs out." Director: "Great. So the beans keep you going. Hold this bowl of lentils." Shepherd: "Where did those come from?" Director: "The airport. Hold it a bit higher." Shepherd: "My wife will see this." Director: "She'll love it. Rolling. How old are you?" Shepherd: "The paper says 103." Director: "And you are?" Shepherd: "Nobody wrote down the year. My cousin's paper says 97. It's said 97 for a while." Director: "We'll use the paper. Now, the olive oil. You drink a lot of olive oil." Shepherd: "I drink the milk from the sheep." Director: "We'll shoot the oil. Can somebody get that lamb out of shot?" Shepherd: "That's my dinner." Director: "It's in the way of the message. Stand next to the vegetables, look wise, and don't mention the sheep."

Scotland just delivered one of the most powerful clean-energy statements in modern history. On multiple occasions, the country’s wind turbines generated around 200% of national electricity demand, producing far more power than Scotland itself needed. It can be done!!!

Pemmican was the first energy bar ever made, and nothing on the petrol station counter has come close to it since. What went into pemmican: - Dried meat, pounded to powder - Rendered fat, poured in hot - Held together by the fat, nothing else - About 3,000 calories a pound - Keeps for years without a fridge - Wrapped in the animal's own hide What goes into the one by the till: - Oats, puffed rice, soy protein isolate - Sunflower or rapeseed oil - Glued together with syrup, under 3 different names - About 1,800 calories a pound - Best before next spring - Wrapped in plastic that will outlive you It took 5 pounds of fresh meat to make 1 pound of the dried, and a whole bison to fill one bag. The drying took out the water, which is most of what an animal weighs, and the fat put back the part that does the work. In the Boer War the British Army issued it as the iron ration: 4 ounces of pemmican and 4 of chocolate in a tin, and a soldier could march for 36 hours on it before he started to drop. Peary took 30,000 pounds of it to the Pole and called it the most concentrated and satisfying of all meat foods. The word is Cree. Pimîhkân, from pimî, which means fat. The people who invented the energy bar named it after the energy.

‼️ Andy Burnham's decision to replace standing charges with higher gas unit prices will push up energy bill costs in Scotland. 👀 Labour tried to pull the wool over the eyes of Scots, but no amount of trickery can hide the sky-high bills that people will be paying this winter!

The reality of living with #ScottishSalmon farming. Industrialisation by stealth of #rural areas. It's like living beside any smelly, noisy, disruptive factory. Belo 'well boat' lights strobbing through a window in the wee hours. It only suits those profiting from despoilation.

Before people in Scotland start rejoicing at the removal of standing charges, just remember 1 It's colder in Scotland, and we use more energy 2 The UK is one of the most expensive places for energy Yet again, Scotland ends up paying more so that England pays less #Independence

Women have been handed the plant version of every nutrient for fifty years and then told the tiredness is just being a woman. Told to eat spinach for iron. Spinach iron absorbs at about 2%. The iron in a steak absorbs at up to 35%. Told to take flax for the omega-3. The body turns a few percent of it into the fat the brain actually uses. A mackerel arrives with it done. Told to swap the milk for oat. The milk was where the iodine was, and the thyroid runs on iodine. Told to get B12 from nutritional yeast. Yeast has none until a factory sprays it on. Told to get protein from tofu, which has half what a lamb chop carries and none of the fat to use it. Told to cut the yolk for the cholesterol. The yolk was the choline, and the choline was the baby's brain. Told to go low fat in 1985 and to count calories in 1995, and the hunger that followed got a diagnosis of its own. Three women in ten on earth are anaemic. The advice for all three has been a leaf. Every substitution on that list took the animal off her plate and handed her the deficiency, and then handed her a label for the deficiency. Hashimoto's. Fibromyalgia. Chronic fatigue. Low mood. Perimenopause, arriving at thirty-eight. She was never short of a plant. She was short of a cow. Fifty years of being told to eat like a rabbit, and the fatigue filed under hormones.

This isn't the first time Bakkafrost have had a feed barge sink, at least this time we're told about it, unlike the one in Portree where it was hushed up. Oh wait a minute, there aren't so many residents here, so no problem letting the news out! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqdr…
