ik denk dat je me verkeerd begrijpt.
Links is gewoon slimmer. Vroeger waren academici minder slim.

Tennis shouldn't have second serves.
Everyone knows that the server has a massive advantage in tennis; that's why break points are so important. But the main reason servers have an advantage is because we give them two serves! It's stupid!
And what do we get in return for giving servers two chances? More downtime, that's what, as we wait between the first fault and the second serve. Sure, aces are kind of cool, but nobody is putting them in the highlight reel over an amazing rally full of amazing shots. More of the latter and less of the former is a worthwhile trade.
Volleyball doesn't have second serves. Neither do badminton, table tennis, or pickleball. It's an aberration among the ball-and-net sports that only serves to make the game more predictable.

We are so thankful, moved and proud of Fin’s fellow cyclists today for making a stand at the Tour of Lombardy. Things need to change and no other family should ever receive the phone call we received on 14th Aug. We sincerely hope the UCI are listening and changes will be made.
too big to fail, or too big to save?
In complete agreement with @paulkrugman's analysis today on France.
1. France is probably too big to save for Europe. the potential for a serious European crisis is real.
2. The problem is pretty straightforward: the pensions are unsustainable, and the extreme right and extreme left are determined to block sensible reforms. This makes any potential bailout politically impossible for its partners.

It's almost impossible for me to believe that this silencing of my right to speak freely is rampant in
England now, as if we were living in an authoritarian
country
The British Government is preparing an apparatus of internet censorship without parallel in the modern era.
At the UN, Andy Burnham announced the creation of a National Centre for Information Defence — Labour’s Ministry of Truth.
The Prime Minister says the centre will protect us from hostile foreign powers such as Russia, which he accused of spreading lies and disinformation about Britain, amplifying “far-right narratives” and interfering in our democracy.
But the real purpose is to suppress dissent and silence those who criticise the Government or express views about the state of the country that run counter to Labour’s prevailing progressive orthodoxy.
FSU Director of Policy and Research David Rose has written a new briefing examining the threadbare research the Government has used to justify its plans. The Government is clutching at straws — and, ironically, already spreading misinformation about the threat of misinformation.
It has ignored a wealth of evidence from leading academics to push ahead with its new censorship regime.
Burnham’s Government is putting Britain in the same league as some of the world’s most authoritarian powers.
