As we continue to condemn Hamas' horrific attack on Israel, @RepSchakowsky, @RepMarkPocan, @RepMcGovern & I led 55 members urging the US to ensure adherence to int'l humanitarian law, protection of innocent civilians in Gaza, & full humanitarian assistance. Read the letter below.

Save the date (2/23) for this important panel organized by @kswinth, "Reinserting Social Reproduction into the History of Capitalism." Featuring @NFolbre, @eileen_boris @pilargonalons, @ProfNaomi. Timely topic given current crises in public health, care work, and gender equity
I am interested to hear reactions and thoughts to my blog post on the potential and limits of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's advocacy strategy as Director of the ACLU Women's Rights Project.

Excellent interview with Deborah Berkowitz about OSHA's failure to enforce the law. Agency received 18,000 Covid complaints, and turned its back on 12,000. Many Say OSHA Not Protecting Workers During COVID-19 Pandemic npr.org/2020/07/04/887239204…
We do need to create systems that allow working mothers both to care for their children and to keep their jobs. Reopening schools & daycare centers does not seem a straightforward solution, though. We also need to safeguard the health of teachers and childcare workers. Models?
This piece by @ejdickson is beautiful and @StephanieCoontz's reference to a "crack in time" from the Benet poem took my breath away. Let's hope that this crack in time allows us to build a better system for working families. rollingstone.com/culture/cul…

This article shows one way the pandemic may prompt the reshaping of employment policies to better support families. I am not equally optimistic that trends for highly-paid workers will be universalized, though we should aim for that. nytimes.com/2020/06/21/opini…

This is interesting and significant work on the role of workers in corporate governance. @GeorgievLaw @EmoryLaw
Enjoyed presenting my work on the the Human Capital Management (#HCM) Movement in US Corporate Law at this year's (virtual) National Business Law Scholars Conference. Thx to the organizers, co-panelists & participants. Looking forward to a live conference next year!

In case you missed this earlier, as I did, read @ProfCatherine on the intersection of the "Color of Covid" and the "Gender of Covid." Black and Latina women disproportionately represented among both unemployed and"essential" workers in increasingly stratified workforce.

There is so much to discuss about this topic--vulnerability theory can help to explore the public health, economic, and social dimensions of the pandemic.
This is an exciting opportunity for the application of vulnerability theory to the Covid crisis.

Thanks @katie_eyer for the insightful analysis of Bostock and its implications for antidiscrimination efforts beyond employment. A couple further questions about #Bostock:

You are correct that the opinion shows that but-for causation is not insurmountable. Yet it still requires that the illegitimate criterion "made a difference" as you suggest. Do you think courts might require plaintiffs to quantify that difference to show but-for-causation?

The decision might have rested on the anti-stereotyping rationale of Price Waterhouse. Instead, the Court relied on the textualist argument that LGBTQ discrimination is necessarily sex discrimination. Does this have less universalist implications for gender bending at work?

Thank you to @lsepper and several other friends who clearly manage to multi-task much better than I do for letting me know, today. I just reported it. I think the handle might be down for now, but this is a reminder to be extra-careful about online security. teapawt.org/lsepper/status/1271151…
Just FYI--Someone has created a Twitter account impersonating my own with the reverse handle (last name first name). I use double security on my own account because of a prior hacking incident, and it never occurred to me this might happen. A reminder to be vigilant !
