ALT "I hope to inspire the next generation of Black and Brown boys and girls that they belong in science. I hope that the barriers I and others break down will make their path a little easier. Science is something, that for far too long, many Black and Brown people have viewed as something done to them." Delissa McMillen, Allen Institute for Brain Science

“Sometimes you have to talk to the instruments or yell at them, and it’s much easier when they have names.”
Have you named your lab instruments? Get some inspiration in this lighthearted article by @metricausa for @naturemethods.

I am tired. I will no longer fight for those who will willingly sacrifice me and my children. People should understand you can’t say you support or love me then vote for someone who doesn’t value my existence.
Normally our lab runs like a well oiled machine. Then something happens like a power outage. In these moments of chaos I think the #spatialtranscriptomics team shows that they can solve any problem with a little ingenuity and teamwork.
One of the values @AllenInstitute is Creativity. Last week we had a power outage and we also lost vacuum. We did have a small amount of standby power. We still had one sample to start imaging. Our SOP uses a vacuum to sample prep. Listen to what Josh did.
