#Leadership Moment:
When it mattered, Sadio Mane chose not mob rule but rationale nuanced thinking. Not emotional outburst, but considered response. Tonight, he defined what respect, class, and clarity look like. A true African icon. A TRUE LEADER. #AFCON2025 #LionOfTeranga

This week, I had the honour of representing President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko at the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka (ZAMII 2026), at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.
Great, this. Well done @GomeraM
A title tells you what someone does. It rarely tells you what it took to get there.
I sat down with my friend @MumbaMusondam to talk about motherhood, ambition and her experience as a woman in global leadership. We also talked wetlands, and why their future is tied to ours.
This is Ukama with Max Gomera.
Ukama means kinship in Shona. The ties that hold us. The people who made us. The relationships that carry us through.
Over the next ten days, Iโll share moments from our conversation.
Come for the stories. Stay for the people.
Coming soon.
Good people. Good stories.

We head to the 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings with a compelling investment proposition, Botswanaโs economic future is open for business.
With the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP) guiding our ambitions, we go in pursuit of investment.
We will engage global financial institutions and development partners to unlock capital, cultivate partnerships and create new opportunities that translate into businesses, jobs and better livelihoods for Batswana.

According to AfDB, raw bauxite sells for US$65 per tonne, while aluminium commands US$2,335 per tonne. Thatโs roughly 36 times the price per tonne. Africa must capture more of the value created after its minerals leave the ground. That means investing in local processing, reliable energy and industrial capacity, so our mineral wealth generates more jobs, income and opportunity at home.

My friend James Manyika has been awarded the W.E.B. Du Bois Medal, Harvard's highest honour in African and African American studies.
On Thursday night at Sanders Theatre, Strive Masiyiwa, himself a 2024 medallist, presented it to him. One Zimbabwean honouring another.
James is Senior Vice President at Google-Alphabet, leading research in AI, computing and science. I remember him in my office in Harare over coffee, talking AI and autonomous vehicles.
It all began with a first-class engineering degree at the University of Zimbabwe, then Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
He now stands with Muhammad Ali, John Lewis, Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, Harry Belafonte and Wole Soyinka.
Zimbabwe has never been short of talent.
Congratulations, my friend. You make us proud.

Botswanaโs economy grew by 8.7% in the second quarter of 2026, with mining, particularly diamonds, driving much of this recovery. This is encouraging, and I want to recognise the continued efforts across our diamond industry to rebuild demand, market natural diamonds....

#LetFreedomSing 'Love , Honour, and Respect Saturday'
By Brian Tamuka Kagoro
Happy blessed Saturday, family! Tamuka vibes ๐. The week has had its truckload of wahala, shida mingi, matata, inkinga...yoh!
Today we are not stepping out with stress โ we are stepping out with assured life energy. Karibu, bienvenue, bem-vindo to you as the main character's day! Saturday doesn't ask for your hustle, job title, social position or mad rush . Saturday asks: "Kijana, unalala lini?" โ my child, when do you sleep? Answer it honestly, O!
Across the continent the old wisdom agrees. In Accra Ga people say "Afe Nyonu"โ life is sweet, taste it slowly. In Yoruba land dem say "Ara re ni ijoba re" โ your body is your kingdom; govern it with rest. The Swahili coast reminds us how to do Saturday rest ,"Pole pole" โ gently, gently, sana. Even your ancestors, may their data never finish, took one day off. Who are you, with your 2% battery and 247 unread emails, to out-work the ancestors? Wallahi, relax!
So before you leave the house, assemble the fit. Not the drip โ the soul fit. ๐. I no mean to vex you , but if you drop dead from work stress ,by next week the vacancy will be advertised and your friends and colleagues will apply even as your family grieves. Business must go on O!
Throw on your "No Gree for Burnout" hoodie. Zikoko-certified, hustle-proof, drama-resistant. Let it repel every ungodly temptation of "quick meeting, just 5 minutes" and "you've seen my missed calls?". Abeg,No!
Lace up your "Zviribho, But Make It Fly" sneakers. Every step tells your troubles: "Not the main character, my brother. Supporting cast." Your plans, your vision, your peace โ that is the premiere, and the premiere is sold out.
Rock your "Ubuntu 2.0: Plugged In, Not Drained" tee. Ubuntu is not free WiFi, people! Family, friendship, love โ these are your people, not your battery pack. Love them, don't leak through them. Mon ami, community is not a group project deadline. It's a braai. Bring meat, bring self. A golf day , picnic , fishing trip , game drive , a church social or chai chat . Something that genuinely connects you to your Pips.
Slip on your "Sabalkheri โ Good Morning to My Peace Only" socks. Say good morning to your own soul first!
Clip on your "Tswi-Aye! I Am Chilling" cufflinks โ but today the fire is in the jollof, not in your chest.
Fasten your "C'est Le Weekend, Bรฉbรฉ"belt : even your problems must apply for leave and wait for HR to respond. Monday. Maybe.
And never, ever leave without your "Enyonyam Ara Ara" โ Glory, It's Mine"pendant. Claim it, wear it, don't lend it to anyone's drama.
Spray the "Only Good Vibes, Alhamdulillah" cologne โ gratitude is the fragrance that confuses your enemies' GPS. They can smell the blessing ,good vibes and joy,but they can't locate them. ๐๐พ
Wear your "Fulfilled Life, Hard Faith"* bangles. Because Saturday is the 'Sabbath' of rest and the 'Salah' of the soul โ worship, renewal, 'ashe' ( the power to make things happen). Pray, reflect, breathe. Then eat. Twice. You've earned it.
'Dai', so here is the anthem: Saturday survived your whole week โPotholes in Harare , traffic in Lagos, loud hooting in Cairo, deadlines in Nairobi, inflation everywhere, fake friends with real audacity, and your own 3 a.m. overthinking committee. Honour it.
Sit tall.
Laugh loudly.
Glow responsibly.
Hydrate. Moisturize. Mind your business. ๐งดโจ
And tonight, when the sun clocks out with full pension benefits โ queue the Jazz, the Blues, the R&B soul, the Afrobeat, the Amapiano, the Kizomba, the Raggaโฆ
โฆ and play them ALL on 'SILENT MODE'. ๐ง๐คซ
Because the deepest freedom isn't loud, fam. It's the groove in your chest while the world sleeps โ the angels and ancestors on backup vocals, your peace on lead.
So whatever you do today: Love, Honour, and Respect Saturday! Let your enemies and worries see you resting and start updating their LinkedIn.
Asante. Merci. Obrigado. Ese. Akpe. Modupe.Ndatenda๐๐พ๐๐ฅ

Toured the Dangote Refinery in Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria, at the invitation of Dangote Group President and CEO @AlikoDangote ahead of our groundbreaking ceremony for the Dangote East African Refinery in Lamu, Kenya, next week.
The refinery in Nigeria is a massive investment with a crude oil refining capacity of 700,000 barrels a day and produces more than 100 million litres of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel every day. The company has built 120km of sea cables to move crude from ships to the refinery.
This huge achievement is a testament of what African governments, investors and financial institutions can do together.
The refinery whose construction we launch in Kenya next week will be bigger. It will transform the petroleum sector in our country and region, providing fuel reliability and security, scaling up industrialisation and creating 60,000 jobs.
When the refinery is completed, spin off industries will emerge, including the production of fertilisers, chemicals, and packaging.
