"We waited for 11 hours from 4am till 3pm to receive our Father's body from mortuary after completing 100s of procedures of Kerala Police. Without any procedure, the accused went on bail even before we got to see our father's dead body" - Victim Jayabalakrishnan's children 😭 The recent Mercedes-Benz accident in Kochi has sparked public outrage after the children of victim Jayabalakrishnan questioned the apparent difference between the procedures their family had to endure and the speed with which the 17-year-old accused was released on station bail. The children of Jayabalakrishnan started their protest late evening yesterday even before their father's dead body haven't yet finished burning, before the police station at Cheranalloor. Jayabalakrishnan's death is not merely a story about a damaged luxury car or a controversial bail decision. It is the loss of a working father whose family now has to face life without him. Their demand is ultimately for a fair investigation, accountability under the law and assurance that the circumstances of their father's death will not be overlooked.

This was in the late 1970s. A relative of mine, who lived in one of the poshest localities of Delhi, had been educated at one of the best boarding schools in India, and whose father had held powerful positions in the government, joined JNU to pursue a PhD. I saw him one day in the canteen and walked across only to find him look right through me. A few months later, at a family dinner, I was taken aback when he came up to me and told me, almost apologetically, that he would prefer not to associate with me in any way at college. I was not to let anyone know that we were related. I would occasionally see him arrive on a Vespa scooter, dressed in a shabby kurta and pyjama, and head straight for a dhaba or canteen, where he would sit for hours with a few others like him. I was subsequently told by another cousin that his driver, an absolute luxury in those days, would follow him on a scooter to a designated point. There, the driver would hand the scooter over to our budding proletarian and take the car back home. All this charade only to establish his credentials. Cut to a good twenty years later, at a family wedding. He greeted me with great warmth. By then, as the family grapevine had it, he wasn’t doing much beyond occupying one part of the house his father had built and renting out the other half. When he caught up with what I was now doing he caustically remarked, “So, you run a business, is it?” “Yes. I work hard and generate a livelihood for around sixty people, who work equally hard.” “Well, some of us have to do bigger and greater stuff,” he had replied. My husband later told me that if looks could kill, the man would have been reduced to cinder. I have to say that if I have great disdain today at big bindis, shabby kurtas, dirty feet and stubble, sported by people who, in those days, could be found chuffing away at imported 555s or sipping single malt while posturing as champions of the proletariat, it is because of him. He left me with a lifelong allergy to hypocrisy passed off as ideology.

Lady constables driving under the influence of alcohol. A vehicle without number plates. Who is enforcing the law when those expected to uphold it are breaking it? Has Pune become a city where traffic rules are a joke, the powerful get away with anything, and accountability is DEAD? Pune deserves answers, not excuses. Serious questions over law enforcement and police accountability have emerged in Pune after video footage surfaced showing a woman, purportedly a police constable, driving under the influence of alcohol in a vehicle without registration number plates. In the viral video, a distressed two-wheeler rider is seen confronting the woman after narrowly escaping a head-on collision, alleging that she was driving recklessly on the wrong side of the road. When questioned about whether she had been drinking, the woman brazenly admitted to alcohol consumption and hurled verbal abuses at the citizen filming the encounter. The footage has ignited fierce backlash online, with citizens questioning how road safety regulations can be effectively enforced when those tasked with upholding the law blatantly violate it. #PunePolice #PuneTraffic #DrunkDriving #PuneNews #TrafficRules

🚨SHOCKING - FIR against Malabar: A man walked into a Malabar Gold showroom in Bilaspur with a simple request: exchange his old 22-carat HUID-hallmarked bracelet. The staff ran it through their XRF machine. Once. Twice. Three times. Every reading came back the same: 20 carat. They even told him the hallmark didn’t exist. He called the local jeweller who had sold him the bracelet. The jeweller walked in, confirmed the HUID, and asked them to test it again. Same machine. Same bracelet. Same room. This time an employee adjusted something on the machine. Suddenly the reading flipped to 916 - pure 22 carat. The jeweller recorded everything. The Sarafa Association arrived. Police registered an FIR against the showroom manager and the machine operator. The machine and DVR were seized. This wasn’t a small local shop. This was Malabar Gold “the chain that advertises trust, purity, and BIS standards across India”. One bracelet. Two readings. An 8% gap in gold value. And the only thing that changed was who was watching. If a hallmarked piece can magically lose two carats the moment a customer wants to exchange it, and magically regain them the moment someone pushes back, what exactly is the machine testing? Customers don’t walk into Malabar expecting a calibration error that only appears when they’re selling gold. They walk in expecting the purity printed on their receipt. The FIR is real. The readings are on record. The machine was seized. Malabar still hasn’t explained why the same piece of gold needed a “setting” before it became 22 carat again. Until they do, this isn’t a machine glitch. It’s a business model.

The worst investment I did is buying a property of Godrej- big brand bigger, bigger fraud. Bought a property in 2023, they told we will get possession in 2026 mid, forget the possession, they are telling they want to add additional floors and that too 8-9 floors, without adding any extra plot to the project. From past 3 months the CRMs has bullied, disturbed, bribed and what not for us to sign the consent form to modify the RERA, as a person who works a full time job, this kind of harassment takes a toll on mental health, as now I am paying full EMI and possession not sure when they are going to give(maybe 2028(Rera date)), the constructions they have left in mid. For Phase1 owners also they are pushing the handover deadline. This is so disappointing! and now I am stuck, so whenever you decide to buy a property in Godrej, think 100 times before.

Another serial offender here. The Verna used by the crimizen already has 45 challans worth Rs. 82000 pending. Violations include overspeeding, wrong side driving etc. From overspeeding, wrongside driving to now beating up law abiding citizens - a criminal emboldened by inaction of the police. Had he been nabbed after 2-3 unpaid challans, an innocent citizen wouldn't have to bear violence. @PCcityPolice, wake up and protect law abiding citizens from crimizens who do not belong behind the wheel. @DGPMaharashtra @MMVD_RTO

You are on a rampage against the CEC. It seems to be personal. What scores you want to settle is your business. But don’t reach and propagate definitive judgments of your own when the issue is before the SC. You are damaging your own reputation. I am not trolling you. I am exposing your surprising choice to defame India’s electoral system. You should be more responsible. India has given you great opportunities in life and prestige. Be grateful. @DrSYQuraishi

By last count India has issued 5.27 m OCI cards. This politically activist lawyer in an article full of psycho- emotional claptrap has cited two examples of those whose OCI cards were annulled : Natasha Kaul and Ashok Swain. Couldn’t be worse examples. The OCI cards give many facilities to foreign nationals of Indian origin but also place some restrictions. They are not supposed to carry out incessant political campaigns against India on foreign soil. They do their best to sully India’s image. They try to degrade India in academic and think tank circles, and in the press and social media. Who supports them and what their links are would be of interest. They cannot participate in street demonstrations and protests in India. They are not required to praise the ruling party or the government of the day either. The overwhelmingly vast majority of OCI cards enjoy their benefits without getting involved in politics but some highly surcharged individuals create controversies. It doesn’t matter whether they hate the present ruling party and its leadership. They are not given OCI cards to do politics against the government of the day in India. If their sense of belonging is so strong then they should return to India and do politics here.
Only govt-friendly OCIs are welcome. "Just as they are expected to be ‘ideal’ immigrants in their adopted countries, the diaspora must also be unquestioning and uncritical of India." scroll.in/article/1096559/in…

Hooliganism is rampant in Pune. I Doubt Police can do much because most of this emanates from politically backed goons . Unfortunately their bosses control the police . I actually feel sad for the police .
Shocking Road Rage in Pune: Scooter Rider Brutally Assaulted for Stopping at Traffic Signal . . In a shocking incident of road rage, a two-wheeler rider was brutally thrashed for merely following traffic rules at Pune's Jahangir Hospital Chowk. At around 3:08 PM today, a man riding a Jupiter scooter rightly stopped his vehicle as the traffic signal turned red. However, a four-wheeler approaching from behind rammed into him. Instead of apologizing for the collision, two men stepped out of the four-wheeler and violently assaulted the scooter rider, angrily questioning him on why he had stopped at the red light. This brazen display of hooliganism has raised serious concerns among citizens regarding road safety and law and order in the city. #PuneTraffic #RoadRage #JahangirHospitalChowk #PunePolice #PuneNews

What is the role of the opposition if not to hold the government accountable for civic failures? Citizens and the media are doing their part, while the opposition is missing in action. Maharashtra's opposition hits the streets in Mumbai and Pune to protest Delhi politics, yet when it comes to local issues, they do not think it is worth their time. IMO, any party that could build enough credibility to fix even one of these three issues - Water, Garbage, or Traffic enforcement - would sweep the Pune polls. Instead, they sit back and wonder why they keep losing.
Pune’s Hinjewadi Metro was supposed to be ready first in 2024, then March 2025. It’s October 2026, & commuters are still waiting - not for a train but for an inauguration date. PM’s visit is deferred, and so is Pune’s relief from traffic. hindustantimes.com/cities/pu…
