Paul Hutcheon has left his role as Daily Record Political Editor👇
Exclusive: The Bell has learned political editor of the Daily Record, Paul Hutcheon, has quit, after an alleged affair with Labour MP for East Kilbride, Joani Reid. As reported by Private Eye, Hutcheon oversaw favourable exclusives of Reid at his paper in past few months.

We suspect there will be a broadly neutral impact on the average gas bill in Scotland if standing charges are scrapped and the cost added to a unit. It will make a marginal difference either way if the unit price increases by around 1p. So, no help at all with Scottish bills.

The SNP and Greens should be on this as should Energy Groups and charities in Scotland. If our rough calculations are correct then Scottish households face a HUGE rise for energy in January with zero help from the Labour Govt.

All mention of the Daily Record removed. Where will he go next? The only newspapers recruiting in Scotland these days are right wing English titles with a tartan masthead.

Wait a minute, on gas prices... By moving the cost of the standing charge on to the unit rate - has Andy Burnham actually just put up energy bills for the majority of Scots? We are colder country & have to put the heating on more, the more gas we use, the higher price we pay!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Doogan himself has stood in the House of Commons and demanded the redistribution of the standing charge to the unit price claiming it will lower bills and reduce carbon emissions. x.com/staylorish/sta…

A reminder that average UK household will pay £1370 more in energy bills than Labour promised, by March.👇
UK households will pay average £1370 MORE in energy bills by March 2027, than Labour UK Government promised.👇 Cost so far to Scotland is £3.5 billion. Where are the media questions for Labour politicians?

Genuine question. Does BBC Scotland have an editor or reporter capable of understanding the complexities and detail of the budget? We can't think of a single person left at the station who is up to the task.

Nuclear power plant in England is years behind schedule and double original estimate. The original £20bn cost is now £47bn. Scottish taxpayers helping to pay for it.

Shared from FB Largs Council is controlled by Tory minority together with a few Independent councillors. I recommend she complain to a few other responsible bodies (including the Local Authority), in addition to her, so far, solely levelling criticism at the Scottish Government

BBC BritNat never ran an article on the new figures yesterday showing a fall in alcohol deaths in Scotland. Instead the station has headlined the small rise in deaths amongst women. This is the second top story on the BBC BritNat website.

A new nuclear power station in England has been branded a "terrible deal" for taxpayers. Sizewell C was supposed to cost £20bn. It's now expected to cost between £40.5bn and £47.7bn, with construction finishing between 2039 and 2043. Ferries anyone? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw0k…

Anyone concerned about the BBC in Scotland needs to listen to this interview. We challenge any of the BBC's supporters to defend this.
Lucy Whyte has just conducted one of the most tabloid and shallow interviews we've ever heard on BBC Scotland. What should be an interview about the FM's trip to India turns into a trolling session that never lets up. She just goads and goads and goads. Infantile trash.

Fucking hell. Is this @LucyJWhyte script reader on a job experience stint? Absolute gash excuse of a journalist. Embarrassing dross from the @BBCScotlandNews bin correspondent.

When the FM returns from his trip to India a FOI request will be submitted asking how much the trip cost. A BritNat newspaper will claim public cash has been wasted. BBC Scotland will run headlines lambasting John Swinney and its sock-puppets will confront him on TV and Radio.

We suggested several weeks ago that the fear of being one of the sixty to lose their job was concentrating minds at BBC BritNat. Interviews like this merely serve to re-enforce our concern. This was bad. Really bad.

It's going to be funny when Michael Marra tries to take credit for a budget announcement his bosses in London already decided two weeks ago. Even funnier when BBC Scotland reporters try to credit him.

The fiasco yesterday where a former Tory candidate was the star of every broadcast outlet as she berated Stephen Flynn was an example of how lazy and open to manipulation Scotland's broadcast media is. The reporters wanted some drama and the shop owner knew it. Facts weren't important as evidenced by the moronic questioning from the STV reporter who effectively accused Flynn of covering drains with tarmac. It's not bias per-se. The reporters, STV, BBC, SKY, Clyde, LBC et al likely had no idea the shop owner was a former Tory candidate. That said, even had they known they'd have said nothing lest their little melodrama clip be binned. We can but hope they were embarrassed when seeing the image of the shop owner smiling as she was photographed standing in her shop with Russell Findlay later that same afternoon.
