Spot on. As a relationship coach, I see this all the time: people bring the trauma from their last relationship and hand-deliver it as a bill to an innocent partner. The real issue isn't a lack of good people; it's our nervous system's addiction to chaos making us blind to peace.
Forgiveness is a must, not for them, but for you. However, forgiveness doesnât mean they get access to you again. Sometimes, you have to forgive people from around the corner.
Instead of buying purses, jewelry, video games, and Jordans, invest in a therapist. Work on yourself. You donât get a pass in life because youâve experienced pain. Like they told Effie White in Dreamgirls, âEffie we all got pain.â
I wonder if the men who say all women are whores, liars, and gold diggers realize their mothers and daughters are women? And if the women who say all men are cheaters, liars, and not to be trusted realize their fathers and sons are men?
Ladies, donât let money and gifts blind you to the questions you need to ask before marriage also. Does he have a history of cheating, abuse, STIs, or relationships with men? Too many of yâall skip that last question, only to discover later that your husband likes sword fighting.
Not all men have a history of sleeping with every woman they see. Some simply want one woman to love, build with, grow with, and spend the rest of their lives with. Stop assuming every man has the same intentions or the same past.
I was speaking at a Christian relationship conference when a pastor said, âWhen men are making love to their wives, they should be thinking about making love to Jesus.â Jesus face when he said thatâŚ
Some men would rather destroy their own marriage than humble themselves enough to listen to the wisdom coming from their wifeâs lips. That man is a fool.
I spoke with a woman who told the man she was dating that her goal was marriage, and he agreed. The problem? Itâs been 7 years, and theyâre still not married. Ladies, how long would you wait for a man to marry you before deciding to walk away?
Why do some women see a man asking honest questions before marriage as a personal attack? If heâs considering spending his life with you, shouldnât he be able to ask difficult questions? Yes she should ask her questions also, but men generally donât see it as an attack.
A man is dating a woman and considering proposing to her. He asked if she has ever had an STI or an abortion, and she was highly offended.
Do you agree or disagree that he has the right to ask these questions before deciding whether to marry her?

Imagine being a man, coming online to see your own wife saying this about you.
How would you feel? Be sincere.
Cover your spouse in prayer, stand together in faith, and keep God at the center. Donât just love each other. Fight for each other on your knees.
When getting to know someone, ask about their life, values, faith, character, intentions, and what they want for their future. Yâall are grown, & out here asking another grown person, âWhatâs your favorite color?â and âWho you think winning the rap beef between X and Y?â Smh. đ
Bad company will destroy your relationship if you allow it. Not everyone cheering you on has your best interests at heart. Some people will encourage your foolishness, celebrate your bad decisions, and help you destroy what God intended to bless you.
May God bless you with a man who will choose you in every lifetime and in every room. A man who is proud to love you, intentional about protecting your heart, and committed to building a life with you.
Good men still exist.
Life will bring enough challenges, so make room for joy. Joke with each other, be playful, create funny memories, and never get so caught up in being husband and wife that you forget to be best friends.
One of the most uplifting things in a good marriage is a sincere apology. Two people who honestly want to love each other well will humble themselves and take accountability. In a healthy marriage, spouses make things right.
