@DesignGuideNZ @CityAklccrg @NzBgc From my architectural design days, solar shading design is a lost art these days. Should be looked at seriously for any highly glazed facade.😍😍😍😍 #gamedesign #Fantasy #Digital3D #game #Architectural
Lovely elegant building but I understand the west facing windows are brutal on a sunny afternoon, especially in summer. One for @bobbythekiwi to tackle in his @nzbgc role.
How we build-design, materials, size. We need to reduce our emissions.

As always, it’s important to check the quality of your building materials.
This is a sad echo of NZ’s scandalous leaky home disaster.

"New Form of Engagement
The Chungnam Art Museum will provide a new form of interactive engagement between art and the public. It does this by turning the museum inside out... creat[ing] a diverse and vibrant cultural experience."

One of the things mentioned in @SiouxsieW @TheSpinoffTV article is revisiting ventilation in our built environment. Seems to me the perfect opportunity to look at energy efficiency at the same time and building owners can use @NZGBC tools for this.

Frank Gehry’s Luma Arles will be the literal high point of a new “creative campus” called Luma Arles, a multidisciplinary art and culture complex sprawling over 27 acres. We need a Māori version of this for Auckland. theguardian.com/artanddesign…

Here's yet another (yawn) report into the woes of the Building Industry. @MBIEgovtnz @BRANZlive @NZIArchitects @MasterBuilderNZ and other industry bodies have much to answer for. Poor culture, lack of penalties for poor workmanship, lack of oversight and no consumer education.
This is a distressing and avoidable tragedy for Auckland.
Very ugly. And awkward. @AklCouncil is disbanding the Auckland Design Office and today at council meeting was full of praise for its work. Why? What do the politicians have to say for themselves? Filed my column for Friday @nzherald paper + premium online and yes I'm a bit angry.

How many career-ending statements have started with ‘I’ve been thinking’...
But here goes anyway...

Our rates need to increase. I’m not sure by how much but they need to go up. – at Auckland, New Zealand
