I'm sorry Bioshock Infinite. You were in fact, right on the money.

Mergers and Acquisitions. The games industry became less about the craft and more about the investment expectations. Idiots in suits who don’t understand games telling creatives what to do basically.
So does anyone have a fairly succinct explanation as to why it’s become so exceedingly difficult to make good video games anymore? Like this is a thing society used to be able to do.

Across my 13 years as a content creator, I still think that these vignettes I did for my Cyberpunk 2077 video are the best things I've ever edited. I wanted to portray every player's experience as accurately as possible. The reception to this video was the highlight of my career!

Summing it up
Working on No Love really saved me in a way because it's creatively fulfilling. It can be a rarity to achieve that feeling doing contract work in general, with all the other factors that comes with it. Used to bother me to all hell. But having something on the side like this-

I'd love to live in the alternate timeline where EA never bought Bioware and dozens of senior devs didn't leave because EA made them miserable.

If you're mourning the loss of BioWare and/or Mass Effect like me, then PLEASE keep an eye out for Exodus next year. This is the first game from a new studio founded by former BioWare folks and it looks amazing.

A BioWare dev on reddit leaked a Mass Effect 5 trailer... it's called MASS EFFECT UNIVERSE and it's fucking gorgeous. I'm crying. This is everything I wanted. They were a lot farther than we thought. FUCK EA

It's amazing in hindsight that Mass Effect 3 was considered a bad game at the time, I replayed the entire trilogy (on Legendary Edition) at the beginning of this year & it has held up so well. Gamers had no idea how good they had it back then.

mass effect (2007) title screen, you mean everything to me.

It feels right to leave this here, arguably my favorite piece of music in the entire trilogy. Rest easy Bioware 🥀🕊️

The literacy crisis isn’t that people can’t read the words. It’s that they can’t understand the context, infer meaning, recognise nuance, identify contradictions, or draw logical conclusions from what they’ve read
