📌 Making sure community pharmacy’s voice reaches the audiences that matter is a key part of our media and influencing work.
Our Head of Communications, Melinda Mabbutt, recently attended discussions on health communications and AI, hearing from leading voices including The Times Health Editor Eleanor Hayward, former Head of Digital Campaigns at 10 Downing Street Joe Cox, and former Minister of State for AI Matt Warman.
These conversations give us valuable insight into how the media, policymakers and other external audiences consume information, what cuts through and what builds trust.
We use those insights to strengthen how we communicate the value and contribution of community pharmacy, make sure pharmacy’s priorities are understood and help shape the wider conversation about the sector.

Our Director of Research and Insights, James Davies, and Committee Member and Regional Representative for the West Midlands, Jas Heer, visited a Coventry pharmacy alongside Oliver Cofler, a Crown Representative in the Cabinet Office.
They heard how supply challenges are affecting patients and the extraordinary lengths pharmacy teams are going to to help people access their medicines.

🔊Making the case for #CommunityPharmacy where it matters.
Our Chief Executive Janet Morrison (@JanetMorrisonUK) and Director of Communications, Corporate and Public Affairs Zoe Long (@zoe_l_long) met with Lord Syed Kamall (@SyedKamall), a strong advocate for pharmacy in the House of Lords, to discuss the growing role of community pharmacy and the opportunities to do more for patients.
They highlighted the impact pharmacies are already making, including through the recent launch of the MenB vaccination service, alongside the financial pressures that can limit what the sector can deliver.
They also talked about the move towards more care in the community and the importance of ensuring primary care has the support and investment needed to make this work.

Our latest survey results highlight the ongoing challenge of medicines supply. "Pharmacy teams report that in 88% of pharmacies, patients are being asked to visit multiple pharmacies to find medicines" and 86% of pharmacies say sourcing medicines is taking longer than last year.
In 30% of pharmacies, procuring medicines is now taking longer than ever before.
These pressures continue to affect both pharmacy teams and the patients they support.
