Who controls ur chain's security upgrades? 🤔
Right now @Starknet is an L2 on Ethereum.
The parts Starknet runs itself, like its hash-based STARK proofs and programmable accounts, can be upgraded on its own schedule.
But some parts, like the bridge and data availability, depend on Ethereum.
So when new cryptography is needed, those parts have to wait for Ethereum's own migration timeline.
That's why Starknet is exploring an independent L1
✅ It would decide when core security upgrades happen
✅ It could react faster as threats from quantum or AI-driven math change
✅ Same $STRK, no new token

I used to think proving a phone video was authentic would mean trusting whoever stored the original file. But @vangrid_io takes a different approach. 👀
When you record a clip, the app creates a fingerprint from the video content, coarse location, and timestamp. Those fingerprints are grouped into a Merkle Tree, and the root is anchored on Base roughly every 15 minutes.
What caught my attention is that the verification data includes sibling hashes, so you can recompute the Merkle root yourself and compare it against the on-chain record.
No need to rely entirely on a server log or someone’s word.
There’s one important limitation, though: the on-chain attestation proves the fingerprint existed by the end of that batch window, not the exact second it was recorded.
Batching also means one transaction can cover multiple captures instead of paying to record each one separately.
So here’s the question: is a 15-minute window precise enough for most real-world mapping and verification tasks, or could that delay create problems when the exact order of events matters?
