“If I have a wish for you, it is that you find peace in your actual life…not the life you think you would have if you were able to finish your to-do list, have three extra hours in a day, and finally achieve your goals.” - Patrick Kearon #Sundaythought

The measure of a life is not what you consume, but what you contribute. Spend less time owning, consuming, taking. Spend more time giving, creating, making.

Contractor came by this morning, shook my hand but not my wife’s. Brother, I cannot emphasize enough how badly you have misidentified the decision maker in this transaction.

Temperance is an essential reinforcement for a firm foundation in Jesus Christ. Cultivating temperance is a meaningful way to protect our souls against the subtle yet constant spiritual erosion caused by worldly influences that can weaken our foundation in Jesus Christ. Among the qualities that adorn true disciples of Christ, temperance stands out as a reflection of the Savior Himself, a precious fruit of the Spirit, available to all who open themselves to divine influence.

With sorrow we announce that Russell M. Nelson, beloved President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has died. He was 101 — the oldest president in the history of the Church. When you get defensive about feedback, you fail twice. You fail to learn today, and you fail to encourage people to keep teaching you tomorrow. If you can't handle the truth, people stop telling you the truth. A key to growth is showing that you're coachable.

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints condemns horrific acts of violence worldwide, including the recent assassination in Utah. We affirm our repeated calls to seek peace and unity despite our differences. Jesus Christ teaches us to love one another, that hate is wrong and that human life is sacred. We urge all to reject violence and instead build understanding. Recognizing that we are all children of God, we must treat one another with more dignity, compassion and respect. As we mourn with those who have experienced loss and care for those living in fear or conflict, we call upon people everywhere to build communities of greater kindness and love." — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

My prayers are with the family of Charlie Kirk who was assassinated yesterday. Nothing should be more sacrosanct in our democracy than the free exchange of views and respect for political differences.   We mourn his loss and must take this moment to remind ourselves that political violence is a stain on our democracy.   May Charlie Kirk rest in peace.

Living to 101 is a privilege I never anticipated. I was pleased to be able to share a few thoughts in a global publication about what I have learned and observed during this time. After more than a century of life and decades of studying both the human body and the human soul, I have found this to be true: we are happiest when we remember our divine worth and extend that recognition to others—beginning with our own families. More than two millennia ago, Jesus Christ preached these same laws of happiness: to love God and to love our neighbor. After 101 years, I can say that these are not abstract theological ideas—they are practical wisdom. If you would like, you may read in the link below some of the thoughts I penned. time.com/7315003/russell-nel…
