Thursday morning saw the start of the Well Being in Academia workshop led by Desiree Dickerson @DickersonPsych. The focus was on #impostersyndrome and #perfectionism both of which are important topics in #academia; there were many interesting and helpful tips.

So many gems from @DickersonPsych at tonight’s @FranklinWomen webinar 💎 Reframing the narrative around saying no ➡️ the right “no” can be a meaningful “yes” to other important priorities👇🏻 #FWSayNo
Why do we need to say no? So many reasons 1)To give time to go deep, 2) to build slack, 3) to show up as yourself, 4) because you are the asset and 5) because you are worthy of rest and of doing things that bring you joy @DickersonPsych #FWSayNo

It is hard to say no to the many tasks or opportunities that come your way. But, saying no is important so your own priorities don't derailed but also for your wellbeing ❤️
So, we are starting 2023 with a webinar on the Power of Saying No👊👉bit.ly/3kVbPun #WomenInSTEMM
Can anyone point me to stats/pubs on the #Neurodivergent population and #Gifted population in #Academia? Gestimates of size of undiagnosed population? Love to hear stories of late diagnosis too.

Please RT. PhD students funded by @UKRI_News face a cash crisis. They are working full-time, yet earning less than living wage. With the rising cost of living and increasing pressure to deliver high quality research that benefits society, something needs to change. THREAD (1/10)

I’ve had enough of the clamour for more children’s mental health services to address the rising prevalence of mental health problems.
Yes we need good services.
But we cannot, we must not, medicalise a whole generation.
We need youth clubs, music, art & drama in schools…
Thanks @JulieR282 it was a really fun session. I’m gutted I didn’t have time to finish all the questions, they were so on point! #AcademicMentalHealth #AcademicChatter

What would happen if we stopped praising people for pushing through and started praising people for taking care of themselves and being mindful of the limits?

Instead of labeling yourself as “lazy” maybe you’re:
• Feeling overwhelmed with your schedule
• Burnout
• Unmotivated
• Lacking support
• Lacking resources
• Needing more time for stillness & rest
• Dealing with a mental or physical health issue
• Trying to survive
Always a pleasure to join the @LeibnizPostDocs to explore #AcademicMentalHealth
