“We the People” was never meant to mean “only my kind of people.” There are many ways to be American, and treating one version as more legitimate than the rest rejects the pluralism that has always been central to the American experiment. ⏯️ New explainer video: "Should America Rededicate Itself to God?" with Caleb Campbell and @skyejethani out now on YouTube.

When we see failures of prominent Christians, it’s easy to be cynical. But often, as @BethMooreLPM states: “Cynicism is just pride that thinks it’s smart.” It’s also deep pain & disillusionment crying out for relief. Either way, it’s not the solution.
It's imperative that we resist cynicism. Faithful followers of Jesus ARE out there, in humble, ordinary, local churches. And together, we can help build the kind of communities we once longed to find. @bethmoorelpm brings the encouragement on 🎙️Holy Post 685, live from the @legacydisciple conference. This past Thursday, we hosted a free midday gathering for Chicago pastors and leaders on Christian nationalism with pastor and author Caleb Campbell. The conversation was timely and poignant, and we were grateful to welcome attendees from over 35 different churches and organizations. Caleb did a skillful job breaking down the nuances and helping us make sense of the current church and political landscape with kindness, humor, and a clear gospel hope. The table discussions that followed led to a rich Q&A, with people leaning into some really tough and important questions. Each attendee walked away with a copy of Disarming Leviathan: Loving Your Christian Nationalist Neighbor, along with a few next steps for continuing to learn and lead in their ministries and communities. We’re grateful to New Life Covenant Church for their generous hospitality and for serving pastors and ministry leaders across Chicago so well! We’re looking forward to our final Lead the City Conversations event of the season on May 21 at 11am, "Are We Leading from Wholeness?", a conversation on emotionally healthy leadership with guest Drew Hyun. This final gathering is hosted by TCP and sponsored by Chicagoland Collective, Exponential, and Crossway and hosted at Chicago West Bible Church. You’ll want to save your seat soon! RSVP at join-tcp.org/events.

In recent years, Christian nationalism in the United States has become more and more prevalent, leading to tense discussions around faith, identity, and politics, and a cultural climate marked by division. In this two-part webinar series, we invite trusted IVP authors, Jonathan P. Walton, Miranda Zapor Cruz, Caleb Campbell, Christina Edmondson, and Lacy Finn Borgo, to join us for a timely conversation, identifying what Christian nationalism is, the causes of its increased prevalence, and how it affects our communities, including the youngest among us. Shout it from the rooftops! MAGA Jesus is not the real Jesus!
This is an AMAZING article. Important history, but also deeply stirring in its call to Christians to treasure Christ and be transformed into His image. Thank you @Peter_Wehner (Free gift 🎁 link) theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

Many Christians still support Trump because they believe he's pro-life, but the truth is, he isn't. Abortion rates have risen under his policies & he openly advocates pro-choice positions.  The Republican Party is making a bet that pro-life voters will never abandon them, no matter how much they're betrayed & no matter how pro-choice Trump becomes. But if valuing life is your reason for supporting Trump, it’s time to re-evaluate. He’s shown us who he is. ⏯️ ”There's NO Pro-life Party” by @skyejethani (full video on YouTube)

For many in our churches and communities, American Christian nationalism works the same way. It promises safety, belonging, and purpose—often cloaked in the language of faith, patriotism, and strength. But once embraced, it entangles. The more a person thrashes—arguing online, cutting off relationships, doubling down in fear—the tighter the wire pulls. open.substack.com/pub/disarm…
