I've listened to pretty much every podcast and panel discussion since ChatGPT launched. And let me say one thing: Sam Altman is the man. ❌ No bitterness. No resentment. No scores to settle. ✅ A good heart. A clear mind. Zero tolerance for bullshit. How did we get so lucky?

Everyone who's been dealt a good hand in life has an obligation to support AI development because technological progress is the only way to improve the lives of those who've been dealt a bad one.

This is called paradoxical intervention, and it's the only way to deal with the confidently uninformed. Tim Sweeney, folks. Absolute legend.

Here is the playbook: dump misinformation on millions of people, knowing full well that only 5% will ever see it debunked. The false narrative then takes hold among the other 95%, resulting in higher order effects that play into the hands of those behind the psyop.

Framing the facts has the same effect on normies as straight-up making things up. So yes, it's misinformation.

I portrayed Terence Tao as a victim here, but I'll say this: if you don't recognize what's happening to you before it's too late, you end up a perpetrator yourself.

All the IQ monsters get absolutely one-shot by social dynamics. The “thought leaders” in academia are overwhelmingly EA/doomer adjacent. If you don't have a strict no-bullshit policy, the “other qualities” Ilya speaks of suddenly become attack surfaces for manipulation.

“Perfect is the enemy of good.” Unfortunately, this applies to working with AI too. I can get so much done so fast... but I really have to fight the temptation to keep refining small details, which will send me down a rabbit hole for hours. 🙈

I know that's easier said than done. But for the first time ever, LLMs make it possible to offer a UI that meets every user exactly where they are. Here's how: 6/

Skills that encode the WHAT are timeless. Skills that encode the HOW get commoditized as models improve. Curate your setup accordingly.
a weird inversion with LLMs is the models improve faster than the tinkerers when i see people with custom workflows and setups they're all addressing problems that don't exist anymore the person naively using vanilla codex is more likely to be experiencing state of the art

Authenticity means being the same person, no matter who you're interacting with.

Is dark mode or light mode more efficient for ChatGPT computer use? Has anyone crunched the numbers?

It is what it is. Compute is the bottleneck. OpenAI's hands are tied. I genuinely don't know what happens once everyone else catches on to how much AI can actually do for them. Put every last dollar you have into data center stocks. And yes, that was financial advice.
Hi, Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan. Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago. (a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want. (b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions. (c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent. (d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet. I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news. Codexingly, Tibo

The conclusion of all this is that everyone will finally be free to do the things they want to do, rather than the things they have to do. Creative freedom and self-expression for all.
i don't think nearly anyone, myself included, has truly internalized there'll soon be a machine better than us in every single intellectual & physical capacity deep down we all share a feeling that our 'entrepreneurship' or 'taste' or... is special & safe. it isn't. it's over

When something is actually scary (COVID), people bullshit themselves into thinking it’s fine. And when the threat is purely hypothetical (AI), people bullshit themselves into thinking they're doomed.

Markets are fascinating because perfect information matters less than the unpredictable behavior of the uninformed.

The moment patterns unrelated to the subject itself begin to emerge among those advancing an argument, you should question whether the argument may be serving as a vehicle for something else.

“Does it make it not true?” It does, because the fact that it was premeditated undermines every last bit of credibility the argument might otherwise have had. We now know for a fact that AI safety was simply being used instrumentally to advance an agenda.

Let me add #(6) to the list below: The moment patterns unrelated to the subject itself begin to emerge among those advancing an argument, you should question whether the argument may be serving as a vehicle for something else. xitter.cf/DishwasherTag/status/1…
You can believe people if they: (1) have no vested interest in persuading you (2) are honest with themselves (3) test what they've learned from others against their own observations and experiences (4) don't have their identity tied to certain beliefs (5) are their own master
