what a misleading headline - "[SPD] has had 18 vacant parking enforcement positions since 2020, and Mayor Katie Wilson’s budget proposal eliminates half of them"
what "revenue" are 9 of 18 vacant parking cop positions that have been open for 6 years generating exactly?? 🙄

ALT Wilson's cost-cutting may actually stop dollars from flowing back to the city. An analysis by the city's central staff does the math: Each parking enforcement officer costs the city about $115,000 in salary and benefits but typically writes enough tickets a year to generate $200,000 in revenue. That's an extra $85,000 per officer, which means the city will lose about $765,000 a year by cutting those nine positions. https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/why-isnt-seattle-hiring-parking-enforcement-officers-if-they-make-money/
As one of the few revenue-generating city jobs, parking enforcement officers should be a budget writer's best friend. Not this year. seattletimes.com/seattle-new…

New: the DHS officials who tried to search the man who wiped his GrapheneOS phone lied. They pushed him about having child abuse images. Documents reveal that was a pretext; he wasn't suspected of this at all. He's a Stop Cop City activist 404media.co/dhs-said-they-se…

there are so many cameras 🫠
- 427-476 live (308 SPD CCTVs, 96 SDOT (CP Hollingsworth recently said 145), 23 via businesses on Capitol Hill streaming to RTCC)
- 105 "off" stadium CCTVs
- ~400 "paused" SPD fleet ALPRs
- 893 private cams (via request, not live)
so like ~1825-1874+
A Seattle police oversight audit found that approximately 47% of police license-plate database searches lacked the required documentation explaining why officers were accessing vehicle records, making it difficult to verify whether searches were legitimate. Seattle's police surveillance network has expanded to 427 live camera feeds.

The party loves police. ICE is just a police department within DHS. The Dems core complaint about ICE is spectacle because unlike the GOP they know it agitates folks. Police “reform” is their bargain; exchange cash for a temporary reduction in spectacle. That’s their ICE plan.

Hey Minneapolis pals, does this story sound familiar?
If you think $16.7 million is a lot of waste, SPD overtime is even more wasteful and unaccountable.
Overtime spending doubled in the same four years— $25+ million more than in 2022 — and it's all on the honor system. No electronic tracking.
SPD is projected to go 26,000 hours over budgeted overtime this year and again next year.
Budget overages were considered enough of a scandal to completely restructure KCRHA, but routine overtime waste and mismanagement are somehow just a footnote in the SPD budget? Make it make sense.

Investigative journalist @DRBoguslaw has recently uncovered two stories demonstrating collusion between law enforcement, Corporate America and academics to broaden legal justifications for the build-out of our surveillance state. Part of this effort has been expanding the definition of what constitutes a "terrorist" — providing a justification to constantly surveil virtually an infinite number of Americans.

SPD is actively defunding every other part of the city budget so that they can shoot up the cars of dead people in the hospital parking lot. Cut these losers loose already.
#Seattle, Oct 12, 2026, 12:00 PM hour. Massive police response outside Swedish Ballard Hospital 5300 Tallman Ave NW. Access to hospital blocked for about an hour. Reason: person in driver seat of a truck near emergency entrance slumped over with head on steering wheel. A witness passing by said it appeared to be an older man. Seattle Police treated it as a high-risk traffic stop. Lots of officers, shields, careful approach. After hailing and shooting vehicle with 9mm non-lethal rounds no response. SPD moved in and found the man deceased in the driver's seat.
