Saw a tweet last week “should we coach outfielders some GK skills?” Watching a final yesterday, I thought maybe he has a point. Defender posted on small square, forces attacker wide well, but wonder if a big spread or dive block like a gk here would have blocked. Tiny margins.
Thanks to everyone who shouted encouragement to me and waved all the Mayo flags on the marathon route. Incredible support. 💚❤️👏👏👏

It was at that exact moment we knew Edendork would win their first ever County Senior title!!
The Tyrone GOAT was going “BACK IN NETS!!!”
👏👏👏 Niall Morgan
There’s “dreams” and then there’s this. Incredible free under the greatest of pressure to win Edendork their first ever County title. 👏👏👏 Niall Morgan.

So delighted for Niall. I know how much this means to him and his family. 👏

We just had one of the best most competitive entertaining years yet, I just don’t think there’s a need to keep forcing change for the sake of it. It’s also hard enough to police as is.
Good work here Austin.
3 small observations from watching a Ryan Cup game last night in Belfield with new rules being trialed. Loads of good stuff observed but obviously loads of challenges also if these are embedded in the game going forward.

Say what you like about USA but they know how to build a stadium! 1.6 billion bucks for the Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. 78,000 fans, retractable roof. Messi scored in MLS here Saturday, Falcons played NFL yesterday, spotless and ready for Tours 10am Monday morning. 👏
Aw brilliant drama!!! 👏👏👏
Incredible drama in the Tyrone final. Darren McCurry nails a two-pointer to get first time finalists Edendork a replay with Errigal Ciaran - but not before it’s initially ruled out for a breach, only for that call to be reversed.

Can’t believe of all the millions of songs, my favourite Country song ever was played live in front of me in Roberts Bar. ❤️
Lovely day 🍺 in Nashville!!
We’ll be long enough underground, keep her lit!
Whatever your opinion on anyone or their ability, this is completely out of order. It feeds into the Twitter toxicity, it’s designed to elicit a reaction. Ireland is a good place with good people, this not how we talk, in public, about our colleagues. Disappointing. 👎
So, according to this shitehawk Eamon Fitzmaurice doesn't know what he's at now, he's letting people that haven't a clue onto his backroom team.
Good man @SmallerFishGAA The man that knows it all.
🚨Brilliant News!! Delighted to announce that Cork Goalkeeper Pa Doyle will be joining us as a coach at our Precision Ultimate Goalkeeper Coaching Day on November 14th in Banteer. 👏

Hope this helps you. Best of luck. 👍
As many goals are likely to be palmed in as kicked in Gaelic. Keepers must stay a step ahead of attacking tactics, with backs working in sync. Study the opposition, and every goal chance to sharpen your positioning. Post hugging won’t get it done.
Try being a goalkeeping coach. You’d swear kids are learning how to let in goals “with style.” The hunger bite desire to win has been diluted into a west coast cooler version of the game I played. Get in the way. Then do it again. Dominate the game. Very simple.
This is incredibly common across all sports and is only getting worse.
We have a generation of athletes generally who have simply free played less and haven’t learned the game they “play” by actually playing the game. They’ve learned it through a coaching curriculum. They’ve had to earn the right to play the game with technical “mastery” first.
In a Gaelic Football context what I see all the time is defenders running away from goal as an attacker runs at goal. It’s really bizarre. The clever man marked forwards are picking up on it too and are just getting out of the way, because at least one defender will follow them anywhere. Instead of understanding where the danger is. So many defenders have no eyes on the ball whatsoever now.
Wirtz like most of his contemporaries have grown up doing Rondo’s in over sanitised academy’s. He most likely suited a Alonso team because it was pretty strict positional game where you are playing a very specific role in a very specific part of the pitch. As an example or thought, he probably be killing it if he was with Spurs right now, cos of De Zerbi. Where Ireola seems to be allowing more space for players to think and make their own decisions. That could take 1-3 seasons to adjust. That’s the reality.
