2013 is about love. Dont kiss people 'ironically' this year. Look at them in the eyes and say "This is real" then press your lips into them.

The fact that female erections are just now entering the conversation at the same time as flying cars being released is also a perfect representation of how far behind we are in female health.

That's right
Got to meet my homie @DocNoirII last night. Rob is one of the loveliest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He blessed me with his friendship and that of the fantastic gang in our group chat. I’m honored to call such a principled, caring man my little brother.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Hi folks. For Long Library I wrote about two very different midcentury films in which Spencer Tracy confronts societies cultivating mass amnesia in the wake of war and atrocity. Link in bio and below

Ms. Rachel reveals she was warned she might lose partnerships and views for showing her support for Palestine: “That doesn’t faze me because the kids gave me the platform. I’m going to stand with them no matter what. People on the ground in Gaza are risking their lives all the time to help kids. I can do it from Manhattan.” (rollingstone.com/culture/cul…)

In modern psychiatric practice, many psychiatrists--MDs or DOs who have completed a year of internship, and three years of psychiatric residency--are being replaced by PMHNPs (psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners) with markedly less training requirements, and much lower salaries. But given the limited breadth of knowledge that's required to diagnose patients (checklists of superficial signs and symptoms), and to select medications accordingly, I doubt that treatment varies much between these two disciplines. I think that psychiatrists might have dumbed down their practice so much that their own professional credentials are unnecessary in practice. Not that I think patients are actually that simple to treat. I just believe that psychiatry has stripped away the depths and demands of our job--drunk on a simplistic illusion of mastering what is the most complicated object in the known universe, the human brain/mind.

go fuck yourself @sama claiming that you solved navier stokes because 10000 agents ran in circles for 88hours on a multimillion dollar gpu cluster to formalize in lean a blowup case under controlled external forcing is pure scientific vulgarity the clay mathematics institute millennium prize does not ask m whether you can artificially force a singularity in a fluid by injecting an ad hoc smooth external forcing term f(x,t) to twist the vortex until it breaks the real problem questions the fundamental stability and global smooth existence for 3dimensional incompressible euler & navier stokes equations under natural conservation laws and viscous dissipation alone using a mathematical loophole on forced equations to parade a century old victory is a major conceptual scam Altman technically & epistemologically what you present as an agi breakthrough is nothing more than bruteforce combinatorial autoformalization the ai did not understand fluid mechanics it simply navigated a continuous search space previously mapped out and constrained by the monumental work of human mathematicians like tristan buckmaster/ levent alpöge / diego córdoba or tarek elgindi coordinating 10000 agents to check the logical consistency of a 100 page proof via lean is a software engineering feat and computational parallelization triumph not an intrinsic scientific discovery it is the victory of the compute bulldozer over abstract human intuition repackaged for the public as a higher mathematical consciousness to this theoretical imposture you add a disgusting ethical and industrial cynicism taking advantage of private codex sessions and informal preprints from academic researchers to siphon their research leads and then trying to redact or erase the contribution of levent alpöge under the pretext that he works at rival anthropic is intellectual serfdom openai behaves like a feudal lord of silicon appropriating the cognitive subsistence of independent scholars threatening their careers behind closed doors if they protest and turning community academic labor into a privatized pressrelease this entire staged event serves a desperate financial agenda in a pre ipo panic facing the slowdown of scaling laws and growing investor skepticism over the profitability of foundational models openai needs to manufacture an artificial sputnik moment claiming to solve a millennium prize without immediately submitting the proof to traditional peer review means using the prestige of fundamental mathematics as cheap marketing fuel to inflate a delusional valuation!!! real science is not a clout chase on social media or a compute spike spent to rob the clay mathematics institute it is a quest for elegance physical truth and universal rigor to decode reality true artificial intelligence will not emerge from hostile corporate takeover of academic work hidden behind computational bruteforce but from architectures capable of generating new conceptual paradigms by masquerading constrained formalization as the collapse of physics greatest mysteries you did not solve navier stokes you only proved how far silicon valley will go to prostitute scientific integrity for capitalist spectacle
We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics. The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra. The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.

Rule number one of corporate comms is when an employee quits and says your product is too dangerous you heartily agree with them and give non negligible odds on near-term human extinction
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

It's cool the machines can do research math and all the other stuff, but it's annoying it's all just to make Sam Altman and Sam Altman types rich. It's annoying our society can only organize for private profit. The collected refracted output of humanity should be for humanity.
I'm just glad the lucky few who stand to receive immense wealth and power from the coming devaluation of all human endeavors have collectively decided to redistribute the gains into universal income and lives of leisure for society at large.

I love Luca because his entire oeuvre can be more or less summed up as "I want that twink obliterated"

I love it when someone is just utterly deranged
Replying to @93xashley
This is precisely the sort of thing which is not medically necessary, does not improve outcomes, and should be shifted to outpatient care. When your son stays in hospital, he is taking other people’s money and throwing it away. The insurance company is right to stand up for them.
