A starring role (and vole!) for #DarwinTreeOfLife from @CBSMornings. It really shows how our work fits into global efforts to understand & protect life🌍🧬 Great to hear from our scientists @joannaharleysci @PaddyAdkins @thembauk & @blaxterlab @SangerToL
Scientists around the world are racing to record the genetic blueprints of all the Earth’s known species before some of them disappear. @roxanasaberi looks into one project that’s digitizing the DNA of animals and plants to learn how to protect them.

Was really fun to see @timminchin on stage at the Hull bonus arena the other day. He mentioned Venn diagrams of the audience at one point and I've been wondering if it was intentional considering the inventor of Venn diagrams was from Hull.
Love watching @eric_lander 's old MIT genetics lectures on YouTube... such an engaging teaching style and so easy to watch.
I see a lot of posts about how doing a PhD inevitably results in mood disorders, depression, needing counselling, etc. Is there ANYONE out there who completed a doctorate with mental health (relatively) intact? Or is that a pipe dream? @AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter #phdlife

I asked a friend if buying an expensive coffee machine counted as having a mid life crisis and they simply responded with "yes"....

My advice to the younger generation: make your mistakes now. Because by the time you're 40, you'll barely even remember them! And then you get to make the same mistakes all over again it's really fun

So public sector debt is estimated to be in the region of £250-£350bn this financial year (2020-2021). Would you happily add £30bn to that estimate if it meant you had £500 to spend now even if it meant a longer recession and potentially higher taxes?

Watching Good Will Hunting... I can't help but emphasize with Will. He knows he's intelligent and can solve any maths problem but that doesn't mean he wants the pressure from everyone about it. He just wants to live his life how he wants.
It's funny how one email can ruin your evening. Well, bed and nightvale it is for me. Goodnight.
