Clowes has bought the club, spent probably close to £90m all in, spent £30m on players and we’re going to end up where we he found us. His biggest mistake is leaving Pearce in charge, couldn’t run a Sunday league club #dcfc
No club has ever survived relegation in the history of the Championship when finding themselves with 7 points or fewer after 13 games - 18 teams have tried, all relegated ...

It is embarrassing supporting this football club. David Clowes has got to see what is going on here, the club is failing at every single juncture. Leadership, recruitment, medical & management. The exodus needs to start with Eustace, tonight #dcfc

I earn £100 grand a year. I have a detached house. 2 cars and my wife is a full time home maker. I can just about afford this. I probably couldn’t afford the house I own if I was buying for the first time today. My salary puts me in the top 5% of earners in the UK. Top 5% to have a similar standard of living to Homer Simpson. That is a disgrace. We have a flatter salary distribution than Soviet Russia and the highest taxes and borrowing costs we’ve seen in generations. Success is almost impossible because our tax system means hard work makes you a stressed out tax cow, not wealthy and certainly not free. We need something radical. Less state. More family. Less handouts. More reward for risk. Instead. Tomorrow, Labour will offer another batch of policies which will send one message to aspirational Brits: why bother.
I read a piece in the FT this week about the price of being middle class in Britain now and it said a couple earning £436,000 combined take home £216,000. That’s a crazy amount of tax, and it doesn't include VAT on purchases, council tax, stamp duty or other taxes (I think does include pension contributions). I can’t stop thinking about it.

Utter, utter madness.
Britain’s new minimum wage: £27,456 a year. Higher-rate income tax kicks in at £50,270. Wage compression the Soviet Union could only have dreamed of.

Lots of similarities between these lot and #dcfc. Local owner ✅ No parachute payments ✅ Director of Football ❌ Clever recruitment ❌ Clear style of play ❌ Absolutely miles behind them.

#dcfc need a total rethink, the problems run far deeper than just JE (who does need replacing). We need a Director of Football who knows what they’re doing. The club is a rudderless ship with no sense of direction or accountability and SP has failed over and over again.

We have won 1 game in 10. We have 4 centre back Injuries (Clarke, Cash, Langas & Fozzy), why isn’t Offor or another academy centre half on the bench? Is Eustace saying that our £5m a year academy isn’t producing a 6th/7th choice CB despite how bad we’ve been? Inexplicable. #dcfc

Average attendance already 1,200 down on last season and can only see that increasing. Football is turgid to watch and then interviews like this make it worse. What an uninspiring, negative message from the manager. Part of me starting to think he wants the sack #dcfc
"If we can't chase the dream this year, then there's no problems." Derby County head coach John Eustace has been speaking about the direction of the club as his side look to kickstart their season against Wrexham this Saturday. Just to reiterate what @MalChristie said for those who didn’t go or watch, Burnley were not an excellent possession team, they were awful and there for the taking. Eustace’s interviews are getting more and more false and not an accurate summary of the game. Desperation. #dcfc
🗣 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 🗣 "The next three weeks will be getting to see who's fit and available to play and then we'll try and dig in the key principles." Derby County head coach John Eustace spoke about the plans for over the international break, with the Rams not back in action until October 10. Leaving Turf Moor with one overriding feeling, what a shocking game of football between two awful teams. 3 week break now, best time to act. Eustace cannot get out of his negative ways and playing all his mates. That was a game between two relegation teams #dcfc #twitterclarets

Delighted for him and clearly made an excellent start. Think everyone (apart from JE) could see what a talent he is. Hopefully by the time he comes back we’ll have a manager willing to give youth a chance instead of his 35 year old mates #dcfc

£8m net spend compared with our £25m over the last season seasons and a wage bill that’s at least a third less, possibly more #dcfc
Preston North End Football Club have today taken the decision to part company with Paul Heckingbottom as First Team Football Manager. Football is a results business and despite significant investment in the playing squad since Paul joined, the results during 2026 and the start of this current campaign have not been acceptable. Paul leaves us with our thanks and best wishes. His professionalism and work ethic during his time with us have been second to none. As a result of this decision Stuart McCall has also left the Club today. We similarly thank Stuart for his contribution over the last two years and wish him all the best for the future. We will now look to appoint a new manager as soon as possible but until such time as we do Jason Euell will take charge of first team matters on an interim basis.

15% of the season done and we are exactly where we deserve to be, both in terms of stats and what we’ve seen. Xg for = 23rd Xg against = 24th Big chances for = 22nd League position = 22nd It has been an abject start to the season and there is no other word for it. #dcfc

Blackburn have beaten Middlesbrough and Millwall with this squad and apparently injuries is the reason we’re 3rd bottom of the league. #dcfc
