Michelangelo was commissioned to create The Pietà by the French cardinal Jean de Bilhères, ambassador to the Holy See, who wanted a sculpture for his own future tomb in a chapel of the old St. Peter’s Basilica. The contract was signed in August 1498, when the artist was just 23 years old, and he completed the work around 1499, at the age of 24.
He carved the piece from a single block of Carrara marble, achieving an almost impossible compositional balance: a woman with proportions slightly larger than those of an adult man so that she could support his body without the scene appearing forced, a detail that generations of art critics have interpreted as a deliberate artistic license on the sculptor’s part.
It is the only work Michelangelo ever signed, after overhearing by chance that some visitors were attributing it to another Lombard sculptor. According to Vasari, that very night he returned to his studio and carved his name into the sash across the Virgin’s chest, later regretting that act of vanity and vowing never to sign any of his subsequent works again.

That’s the equivalent to the Kansas players not shaking Bakers hand before the game. 🙄

"American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis says Hollywood loves #OneBattleAfterAnother because "it aligns with this kind of leftist sensibility."
“It’s kind of shocking to see these kind of accolades for — I’m sorry, it’s not a very good movie — because of its political ideology, and it’s so obvious that’s what they’re responding to. Why it’s considered a masterpiece, the greatest film of the decade, the greatest film ever made [is] because it really aligns with this kind of leftist sensibility... [it will soon be] a kind of musty relic of the post-Kamala Harris era — that thing everyone gathers around and pretends is so fantastic and so great when it really isn’t, just to make a point… There’s a liberal mustiness to this movie that already feels very dated by October 2025. Very dated. And it just doesn’t read the room. You know, it reads a tiny corner of the room, but it does not read what is going on in America.”

When Muhammad died, every single person left Islam, except for three towns: Mecca, Medina, and Ta’if.
The vast majority of Arabs who had professed Islam under pressure, conquest, or political convenience walked away without hesitation.
If it weren't for the wars that followed, the brutal Ridda Wars, in which an estimated 70,000 people were killed, Islam would have disappeared into the dust of forgotten ideologies.
Abu Bakr, Muhammad’s immediate successor, understood what was at stake. If Islam was going to survive, it had to be enforced, with steel, not sermons. So he declared war on all who had left.
Entire communities were wiped out. Apostasy was met with the sword.
This moment in Islamic history, the Ridda Wars, is well-documented by early Islamic historians like al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir.
Islam spread, survived, and was sustained by violence from day one. If Abu Bakr hadn’t launched a campaign of coercion and extermination, Islam would’ve died the same way it was born: through blood.

They always knew who Joe Biden was. They elected him anyway.

A friend of mine was a State Judge in DE and knew Joe personally. He said “Joe is the only guy I know that would walk across the street to tell you a lie that he didn’t need to tell you.”
