I understand the concept. But if your format doesn’t meet the criteria of the world rankings, you shouldn’t be ranked. If they played 72 holes, sure. It would be like ranking college football teams when 10 really good teams decided to play 3 quarters instead of 4
100% are. Why do you think golf viewership is down for everyone? It’s not compelling for anyone. But at least on the pgatour there is a concrete way to qualify. You make the “cut” by playing your way into it the year before.
The assumption that there are more “bottom tier” players on the pga tour is ridiculous. Remember the players Tiger beat in order to win all of his majors. Bob may, Chris dimarco, woody Austin. At the end of the day, it’s still very hard to make it to the tour. Less players,
