Gilruth knows as much about budgets and finance as my goldfish knows about nuclear physics...
The Scottish Govt has rejected the claim by the UKG that it will receive £600m more over the next 3 years as a result of the Budget, claiming instead it’s a real terms cut of £650m. But they will pass on the £100 off energy bills as Jenny Gilruth told @LBC 1/2

Simply not good enough. Didn't look up for it and were outplayed. Escaped with a point. No where near a team that can win trophies.
Full-Time at Tynecastle. The points are shared in Edinburgh. Hearts 2 - 2 Rangers

This is as poor as we have been since Russell Martin. Awful

As bad as Rohl's team. Simply not good enough.

The hidden tax measure in the Budget is huge for people paying tax under self-assessment - sole traders, partners, landlords, retired investors. For 6th April 2028-29, you currently pay 50% of your income tax late in the tax year in question (in January 2029), 50% just after the year end (in July 2029) with any make-up payment in January 2030. Under the new proposals you will pay your tax perhaps monthly or quarterly (TBC) from April 2029 onwards. A rough analysis suggests the impact is to draw about 50% of your tax bill forward, a huge cashflow boost to HMRC and a significant funding issue for the self-employed. The Treasury recognises this, and expects to raise £1.3bn of additional tax in 29/30 as a result of this change. The cashflow impact of the accelerated charge will send some businesses to the wall.

Complete bs
This shows just how little the anti-net-zero lobby understand. The problem for the U.K. is that natural gas sets the price of electricity more often than in other European countries. That is the main reason for our high electricity prices.

There is something seriously wrong at the BBC. This is the headline they used for a Muslim peace activist who was murdered by an Islamist group for preaching against radicalism.

Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka was a prominent moderate Sufi preacher in Nigeria known for advocating interfaith dialogue and opposing violent extremism. Ansaru claimed responsibility, citing his peace efforts as the motive. bbc.com/news/articles/… pmnewsnigeria.com/2026/10/27/pop…

More cash for Gaza then.....😳
Silence, still, from Scot Gov on whether they will pass on the Chancellor's £100 energy support to Band A-D homes.. presumably as they work out how to pour sick on the Budget. They may continue to stall.. or announce different grant mechanism.. or higher payments

The electorate aren’t goldfish. Our memories are long enough to recall June 2024, when you declared that trans-identified men with penises should be able to use women’s public bathrooms. It took a Supreme Court ruling to force you to uphold women’s rights, and now you pose as our bold champion? Please.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls. We'll back practical action to confine misogyny to the history books - in public services, workplaces, and online. theguardian.com/society/2026…

Here's the real story of this Budget, the can being kicked down the road. This Labour government is apparently planning spending cuts on most areas of public service spending of 2.6% per year between 2028-29 and 2031-32. Pull the other one. It's got bells on.

The OBR are saying ANOTHER decade of flatlining disposable income. On top of the last decade. ZERO breathing space. A conjob budget.
Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP says he will give 'breathing space' towards the cost of living and cost of business 💷 What did you make of his first Budget? 🤔 Give us your #Budget2026 3 word reviews below👇 #Peston

We need to cut welfare, cut taxes, and invest in defence. That’s Kemi’s plan, but it’s not Labour’s in this budget. As usual, it’s more benefits and higher taxes to pay for it. Labour’s incompetence and economic mismanagement has cost us all money. #PMQs #Budget2026
