In class, we discuss @jilltxt's (Rettberg 2017) article about how media's and platforms' restrictions sometimes blossom new forms of communication. So this year, I decided to join in and challenge them to make a video using music and movement! tiktok.com/@drcayari/video/7…
This week, we read John Philip Sousa's article form 1906 about how recordings will kill the amateur music maker. About 1/3 of my students called Sousa a boomer in their discussion board posts.
@mdthib, what are your thoughts?
Oh... no big deal... just got to thank @zach_piser for inspiring me as an Evan Hanson of Asian descent. I flew to NYC in early 2020 just to see him in the role.
I wrote a chapter recently that talks about that experience.

So in 2009, I conducted my first study on a YouTube musician using the work of @Lucy__Green and @henryjenkins as frameworks for my case. Today, I was published on Henry's blog as the second of the new editorial team. Would you like to read? henryjenkins.org/blog/2022/1…
Happy #pridemonth. Here's the final look of Pictures at a Gender{*] Exhibition, with costumes created by Anthony James Sirk and photos by Eli Craven. I asked Tony if he could let me be a MF peacock. He gave me feathers! Bead work is gorgeous, inspired by "Goodbye" from CatchMe...
Song is about coming off stage and living life. #Autoethnography has been transformative for me; each time I research about my lived experiences and create a script about my life. The feathers symbolize flight, rebirth, and freedom. Do you want learn how to #ally (it's a verb!)?
Be there for #transgender, #gendernonconforming, and #nonbinary folx and listen. Thank them for their stories. Give them money (donations). Help them the ways they ask for help. There's some merit in trying to be helpful without asking, but ask first. #allyisaverb
#genderidentity was a journey for me, an evolution. Others know their #gender and are unable to express it outwardly in a way they want, while others look back at their lives and know that they've always been something that was different than what they were assigned at birth.

Costume: Anthony Sirk
Inspiration: "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from #SunsetBoulevard @officialALW
Reflection: My gender is mine, and it's always been . My #genderfluidity may contain ebbs and flows, but it is inherently part of me, #queer and #beautiful.

It's amazing how the brain plays tricks on you. Here I am in an existential panic on a walk because I haven't published anything this year. Then, I get home to assess and adjust (our homework for @NCFDD's #FacultySuccessProgram).
I forgot that I had an article already come out this year. I have 2 book chapters published in the next 3 months, and I have 2 articles in review at top tier journals. I got my first edited book contract and have a solo research book proposal in review.
This #genderqueer #queen costume by Anthony Sirk is a reflection of the song "I Will Prevail" from Wonderland. It is how I learned how to belt a high E. @eli_craven's picture shows off my contemplative smirk. . .
