On the 36th death anniversary of Captain Williamson A. Sangma, founding Chief Minister of Meghalaya, I pay tribute to the man whose vision and sacrifice gave birth to the state of Meghalaya in 1970. A true son of the soil, his legacy lives on in every corner of Meghalaya today.

World Meningitis Day 🧠 Meningitis can turn from a headache and fever into a medical emergency within hours. It's an inflammation of the lining around the brain and spinal cord, and bacterial meningitis especially can be fatal if not treated quickly. Watch for: high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, vomiting, confusion, and sensitivity to light. In infants, a bulging soft spot or constant crying can be a sign too. This is not a "wait and see" illness. If these symptoms appear, especially together, go to a hospital immediately. Vaccination also prevents many of the common causes, so please don't skip routine immunisations for your children. Early action saves lives. On my father’s death anniversary today, I remember a man whose quiet strength and steady guidance shaped who I am.
