It's my birthday! Which normally I ignore but it also happens to be the opening day of the Mythical Creatures show at Baba Yaga's in Whitley Bay, so I am using that as a very fabulous excuse to have a little trip out to the seaside with a friend.

Oh no!!!! Triumph turned to panic and confusion in the studio today when the package of 3 illustration prints I'm supposed to be dropping off for an exhibition on Saturday turned out to have only 2 prints in it! 'Hunted' was missing, so I've had to send a mayday message.

One of my hobbies is making infusions with bits and bobs, which myself and a friend have turned into a range of cocktails we refer to as 'For Science'. Which seems especially fitting for this horror, passionfruit in vodka looking distressingly like a wet specimen 😆🎃

Day 1 on the bearded dragon commission! Yes, she is wearing a set of 3 translucent dice as a hat, yes they were in the original photo, possibly it was her game night. I whacked those in first because it's a handy set of tones to refer back to, then picked out some key details.

I have 2 reptile commissions that I'm currently working on layouts for - the lovely beardie I shared a few days ago and this handsome fella! Both images have a little something extra going on in them, so I'm drawing out the compositions to think them through step by step.

Finished rat portrait commission! I am pleased with how this one turned out, it was worth spending all that time layering the fur to get it looking smooth but still soft 🐀 Who would you have me draw?

Presenting - the 4 most terrifying drawn lines of this rat commission! I'm at the whiskers stage which means I am now faced with long, curved, very fine lines that go Right Across all the other stuff I spent days working on. Christ on a bike 😂
