"Life and Death" from TJX / Hitbox Studio Love the art on this. It's got that traditional asian painterly vibe and a style to the art that's a joy to have on the desk. A true balance of art vs blank, a balance of in-line vs. out of control, and the red, black white all work well for the overall aesthetic. Kudos again @DrawnByCaleb and @HitboxStudio_gg for finalizing this piece. Immediately notice that the pad includes a full silicone backing instead of the old 4 corner dots. I do think the carbon-fiber patterned look of the older back looked really cool, but in terms of stability and absolute sticking power, the full white silicone is a great move and I know it was something a lot of people were asking for from the start. The pad is also now 1mm thinner and shedding any thickness from the original 4mm KIN X size will always be welcome. The surface definitely feels slightly smoother and a bit quieter when compared side by side to my custom KIN X. I'd say it's roughly around 15% ish smoother and quieter overall on various skates i've tried on the surface. All great, but I can also sense maybe just a tiny bit more stick to the arm than the original surface when not using a sleeve, and it has been a bit warm in southern California so it's been a bit sweatier the past few days. With the TJX sleeve, it's not an issue and as slick as ever. I'm glad to see TJX continuously trying to improve on the first iteration of the KIN X and I look forward to seeing how these improvements hold up in the longer term and how the rest of community responds to these changes.
