The new Australian government β€œDigital Duty of Care” bill would allow the Australian eSafety Commissioner office to potentially generate AI child sexual abuse material in the course of β€œtesting” the safety of an online service. Section 205K (2) of the Bill permits that β€œin addition the Commissioner may use sock puppet identities to test whether an online service is able to, or allows users to, generate (including by means of artificial intelligence) material the production, dissemination or possession of which is an offence against a law of the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory.” Insane.
