Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy
Breaking: LSU head coach Brian Kelly was informed of the school's intention to dismiss him from his position today, per @PeteThamel.
The school is expected to inform the team of this development tonight. Talks about the terms of his departure are expected to continue.

“If putting me on the sidelines brings more eyeballs to Sam Houston … then I’m for it.”
Social media and the rise of commentators who succeed on cadence over substance (Josh Pate) has given so many of these average, know-nothing people such an insane ego complex.

So, to recap the Larkin situation, this year he has:
- Said he wants to be a Red Wing for life
- Missed the playoffs again (scored one even strength goal after the Olympics btw)
- Demanded a trade (but only to the top 3 US contenders)
- Lost the captaincy
- Begrudgingly showed up to camp (but wouldn't *really* answer any questions & got "injured)
- Decided to play & said his focus was on winning games
- Expanded his trade list (to the top 10 US contenders)
- Publicly quit on his team for a second time
Missing anything? Seems like a really easy guy to root for

The Dylan Larkin situation is no surprise.
Two seasons ago, he played awfully after the 4 Nations as other similarly-ranked centers like Robert Thomas and Nick Suzuki played exceptionally. Kane, Debrincat and even Kasper played very well down the stetch, but the Larkin-Raymond connection was broken and they were minus a million with low production and Detroit choked away a playoff spot.
Bad enough.
And then Larkin, who'd been playing sad loser all year, mumbled some nonsense about the players not getting an energy boost from Yzerman trades.
You could sense from afar that Yzerman didn't know how to respond. This guy had generally had his post-season press conference within a day or two of the locker-room cleanout days. I think it took Yzerman almost two weeks. And during the PR event, you could sense he was bewildered.
This guy.... this guy who failed his team... is calling me out?
And he said as much, just more diplomatically I would have. He said something like, if you look at St. Louis and Montreal, their high-paid leaders led the way. (Ours didn't).
I'll never understand why Yzerman didn't make it a priority to ditch Larkin after that. Larkin failed again last year, scoring zero 5-on-5 goals after Dec. 11 or something. Zero. And the Wings choked away another playoff spot.
Weeks later, Larkin decided he wanted out. By the time the Leo Carlsson offer sheet broke, I suspect Yzerman wanted to quit the new NHL and I'd bet he was trying to line up the job for his buddy Kris Draper.
The sad thing is that Yzerman let this Larkin drama unfold when he should have been the GM who drove the drama, announcing Larkin would be moved in the summer of 2025.
Instead, Detroit has to cater to the whims of an entitled whiner.

Nobody cares enough about “SnapBack sports” to watch the game just because you’ll be on the sidelines man. You aren’t as important as you think

There were talks in the the last 24 hours between Larkin's camp and the Red Wings, both last night and again this morning, and what was communicated from the agents to Detroit was that Larkin feels he's given the team ample time since his trade request in May to get a deal done. Larkin has had enough, so decision was made he won't play tonight nor for foreseable future hoping a trade materializes. Fluid situation still. Red Wings circling back to teams with interest, etc., as talks escalate.

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid faced five straight minutes of questions about Justin Tucker today, including what message his signing sends to female fans of the team.
"He's done his suspension. Took care of his business there. I'll leave it at that."

I’m so glad Taylor Walls laughed and told him it was disrespectful.
Rosenthal knows what he was asking.
We get it - the MLB media thinks the Brewers are amazing!
