Before publishing another KDP book, check these 5 things: 1. Is there actual demand? Don’t publish just because you like the idea. Check whether people are actively searching for and buying books in that niche. A good book in a weak market can still struggle. 2. Is the competition realistic? Some niches have demand, but they are dominated by very strong sellers. Look at the quality of the top books, reviews, covers, pricing, and how established the competition is. Ask yourself: “Can I realistically compete here?” 3. Does your cover earn the click? Your cover is often the first thing a customer notices. It doesn’t need to be complicated. It needs to look professional, fit the niche, and clearly communicate what the book is about. 4. Is the book properly positioned? Your title, subtitle, keywords, description, and categories should all make sense together. A customer should quickly understand: Who is this book for? What problem does it solve? Why should they choose it? 5. Is the interior actually valuable? Getting someone to click is only the beginning. The content still needs to deliver. Make sure the book is useful, readable, well-formatted, and worth the price you're asking. Publishing more books isn’t always the answer. Sometimes the better move is to slow down, improve your research, and publish stronger books. Quality + demand + positioning will usually beat quantity without strategy.

There was a time I kept consuming more content, looking for better strategies, better tools, and better advice. It felt productive. But in reality, I was avoiding execution. The biggest progress came when I stopped searching for the “next thing” and started completing what was already in front of me. One project finished will teach you more than 20 videos saved for later. Sometimes the problem isn’t lack of motivation. It’s lack of follow-through. Finish the book. Launch the idea. Post the content. Complete the project. Then improve from the result.

If I had to restart my online income journey from $0 today, here are the first 5 things I’d do: 1. Pick one skill people already pay for I wouldn’t start by chasing “passive income.” I’d learn a skill that solves a real problem. Writing. Design. Research. Marketing. AI automation. Publishing. Income usually starts when you become useful. 2. Choose one business model and stick with it One of the easiest ways to waste a year online is jumping from one opportunity to another. KDP today. Start creating content immediately I wouldn’t wait until I became an “expert.” I’d document what I’m learning, what I’m testing, my mistakes, and my small wins. Content builds trust. And trust can eventually create opportunities, customers, partnerships, and income. 4. Reinvest my first earnings Instead of trying to look successful, I’d use my first money to improve my skills and systems. Better tools. Better education. Better products. Better execution. The goal wouldn’t be to impress people. The goal would be to grow. 5. Focus on consistency before scaling I wouldn’t ask: “How can I make $10,000 quickly?” I’d ask: “How can I make my first $10 consistently?” Then $100. Then $1,000. Small repeatable wins are more valuable than one lucky result. If I had to start again from zero, I’d focus less on finding the perfect opportunity and more on becoming someone who can create value consistently. That skill follows you into every business you build.

3 KDP mistakes that cost beginners more time than money: 1. Publishing before doing proper research A lot of beginners get excited, create a book, and only later ask: “Will people actually buy this?” Research should come first. Understand the audience, competition, keywords, and demand before spending days creating a book nobody is searching for. 2. Changing things too quickly You publish today. No sales in a few days. Then you change the title, keywords, cover, price… everything. Sometimes you need enough data before deciding something isn't working. Constantly changing things makes it harder to know what actually helped or hurt your book. 3. Trying to make everything perfect Perfect cover. Perfect interior. Perfect description. Perfect niche. Meanwhile, you're spending weeks on one project. Your first books are supposed to teach you. Publish quality work, learn from the market, improve, and keep moving. KDP is not just about making books. It's about getting better at research, execution, testing, and patience. Beginners who understand this early save themselves months of frustration.
