Portainer’s next major release will no longer be open source.
Portainer 3.0 is splitting away from the Community Edition many Docker users know today.
The open-source CE will stay on 2.x with maintenance and security fixes, while 3.x moves forward as the closed-source Business Edition.
Portainer is also going Kubernetes-first, with most new features being built around Kubernetes.
3.x will still be free for up to 3 nodes, but it won’t be open source.
