PRESS RELEASE Prof. Chinwe Obauku Represents Governor Adeleke at First National Volunteer Conference, Emphasises Collective Responsibility for National Development Osogbo, Osun State | Friday, 23 October 2026 The Director-General and Special Envoy to the Governor of Osun State on Climate Change and Renewable Energy, Prof. Chinwe Obauku, has represented the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, at the First National Volunteer Conference of Nigeria, held at the International Event Centre (The Dome), Igbatoro Road, Akure, Ondo State. The conference, organised by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and Ondo State Government, was themed “Every Contribution Matters” and focused on the importance of volunteerism in promoting national development, social inclusion, peacebuilding and community advancement. Delivering the Governor’s address on his behalf, Prof. Obauku emphasised that meaningful societal transformation does not depend solely on government policies or substantial financial resources, but also on the willingness of individuals to contribute their time, knowledge, skills and resources towards improving the lives of others. The address commended the United Nations Volunteers for its commitment to promoting volunteerism as an instrument for development, peace and social inclusion. It also acknowledged the Government and people of Ondo State for hosting the conference and bringing together stakeholders committed to making a positive difference in society. Highlighting the role of volunteerism in national development, the Governor noted that while government has the responsibility to provide essential services, including infrastructure, education, healthcare and security, building a better society becomes more achievable when citizens, community organisations, businesses and development partners complement these efforts. The address further underscored the importance of volunteerism in youth development, noting that opportunities for young people to participate in community service, mentorship, leadership programmes and development initiatives can equip them with practical skills, strengthen teamwork and prepare them for future employment and leadership responsibilities. It also drew attention to the value of everyday acts of service, including supporting vulnerable families, teaching children, participating in environmental sanitation, assisting during emergencies and mentoring young people. Though such contributions may not always attract public recognition, they remain essential to building stronger and more resilient communities. Reaffirming the Osun State Government’s commitment to community participation, youth empowerment and sustainable development, the address highlighted the administration’s focus on improving the welfare of the people and promoting inclusive growth. The conference’s theme, “Every Contribution Matters,” serves as a reminder that every citizen has a role to play in building a better society. From individual acts of kindness to organised community initiatives, collective action remains a valuable pathway to addressing social and environmental challenges and advancing sustainable development. Prof. Obauku’s representation of the Governor at the conference reflects Osun State’s participation in national conversations on volunteerism, civic engagement and inclusive development, while reinforcing the importance of partnerships between government and citizens in achieving shared development goals. The central message remains clear: sustainable development is a shared responsibility, and every meaningful contribution counts. Office of the Director-General and Special Envoy to the Governor of Osun State on Climate Change and Renewable Energy.

Osun Government Sponsors 18 Coaches for Professional Training at NIS The Osun State Government has sponsored 18 coaches to undertake professional coaching courses at the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Lagos, in a strategic move to strengthen coaching capacity and advance sports development across the state. The beneficiaries, selected from the three senatorial districts of Osun State, comprise male and female coaches drawn from various sporting disciplines, including football, weightlifting, para weightlifting, athletics, boxing and other sports. The initiative also provides an opportunity for former athletes, including former para-sport athletes, to acquire professional coaching knowledge and transition into coaching careers. The programme is fully sponsored by the Osun State Government through the Office of the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi who doubles as the commissioner for sports in the state. Speaking during a send-off ceremony on Wednesday, October 21, as the coaches prepared to depart Osogbo for Lagos in a Sports Council bus, the General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council, Mr. Ademola Daini, charged the beneficiaries to be worthy ambassadors of Osun State throughout their training. He urged them to demonstrate discipline, dedication and professionalism while making the most of the learning opportunity, stressing that the knowledge and skills acquired should ultimately contribute to improving coaching standards and sporting performance in the state. Daini expressed appreciation to the Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for sponsoring the programme. He also commended Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi for championing the initiative and giving the necessary approval for its implementation. The General Manager further acknowledged the Chairman of the Osun State House of Assembly Committee on Sports, Engr. Abiola Jeremiah Awoyeye, for his consistent support for sports development initiatives. According to Daini, the sponsorship forms part of Governor Adeleke's sports reform agenda, particularly the drive to build a stronger technical workforce capable of identifying, nurturing and preparing athletes for competitive engagements at various levels. He noted that investing in coaches across different sporting disciplines and all three senatorial districts would strengthen the state's sports development structure, improve technical knowledge and create a more sustainable pathway for grassroots talent development. Also present at the send-off ceremony was the Director of Technical of the Osun State Sports Council, Mrs. Adejoke Osho, who joined other officials in wishing the beneficiaries success in their training. Responding on behalf of the coaches, Abdullahi Adegoke, a former Taekwondo athlete of the Osun State Sports Council and one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the state government for providing the opportunity to advance their professional knowledge and coaching capabilities. Adegoke also appreciated the leadership of the Sports Council for facilitating the initiative, assuring that all the beneficiaries would uphold the image of Osun State and return with valuable knowledge to support the development of their respective sports.

Osogbo Stadium Remodelling Over 40% Complete, Pitch to Meet FIFA Standards – Contractor The contractor handling the remodeling of the Osogbo City Stadium, Maxwell International Ventures Limited has disclosed that the facility is 40 per cent complete. This was just as the company stressed that the playing pitch was being developed to meet the standards of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Speaking during a facility tour with the members of sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, the Project Manager, Architect Jacob Oyekale, said the project had recorded significant progress despite funding constraints and interruptions that affected the original completion schedule. According to him, inadequate funding and the suspension of construction activities during the pre-election period prevented the contractor from meeting the initial deadline. “We are well over 40 per cent complete. I cannot give a specific date at the moment, but I believe the project should be completed within the next few months, certainly in less than a year,” he said. Oyekale disclosed that the stadium’s main bowl was being expanded from a seating capacity of 5,000 to 15,000 spectators, with covered stands designed to provide a more comfortable viewing experience. He said the initial plan to use natural grass for the main playing field had been changed to artificial turf following consultations, adding that the imported turf was already available for installation. He noted that the stadium will also feature Olympic-certified running tracks to complement the playing field. Oyekale explained that the need to protect the main playing surface from excessive use informed the decision to construct two additional training pitches behind the stadium. “One will be a natural-grass training pitch with a track, possibly a four-lane track, while the other will have artificial turf. We will also have a certified hockey field,” he said. He added that plans were underway to develop an indoor sports hub capable of accommodating multiple sporting activities, alongside handball, volleyball and basketball courts, subject to the final arrangement of the facilities. He continued that the project included a hostel with a capacity of more than 100 beds, adding that the hostel’s accommodation arrangement would determine the number of occupants, as some rooms could accommodate two people while others could take four. On further improvements to the grandstand, the project manager said a new design was being considered to remove intermediate columns that currently obstruct spectators’ views of the playing field. He explained that the existing structure would be retained for the planned inauguration, while the proposed modifications would be implemented afterwards. The new design, he added, would include VIP booths for spectators seeking private and more comfortable viewing spaces. Each booth is expected to accommodate eight people and have its own convenience facilities, offering an additional premium experience for spectators. Oyekale said the long-term ambition was to transform Osun State into one of Nigeria’s leading sports destinations by providing facilities capable of hosting national and international competitions. He identified hosting the National Sports Festival as one of the immediate ambitions, noting that the state could subsequently position itself to bid for international sporting events. He said the remodelling of the Osogbo facility was expected to support the development of sports professionals, including athletes and coaches, while creating economic opportunities for residents. According to him, major sporting events could attract large numbers of visitors to Osogbo, creating business opportunities for hotels, food vendors, tourism operators and other service providers.

Osun politics 😂🖕😂
WHEN THE MASK FALLS: THE PATTERN OF BETRAYAL IN OSUN APC By Ismail Omipidan When he is looking for something, he comes across like an Omoluabi. But the moment he gets it, you see his true colours. Several times, many have described him in unprintable terms. I defended him and argued that he was misunderstood. In fact, at some point, I practically begged journalists in Osun to show him mercy. I reached out to most of them individually. Still, the majority insisted that I did not know the man I was interceding for. But I was never discouraged. I marched on until some of the journalists who hated him with passion began to show some love. Again, when then-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola lost the vote count in 2022, he told me some party members believed that this same fellow deliberately mismanaged the entire process so he could emerge as the most senior political office holder in Osun, ahead of 2023. As his media aide then, I dismissed that conspiracy theory and told His Excellency I did not believe it. Unfortunately, when it was time to choose a minister from Osun, this same fellow, through a proxy, began collecting signatures to position himself as the preferred choice of Osun for the ministerial slot. When the bubble burst, he disowned the coordinator who was collecting the signatures. He reached out to Oyetola and denied knowledge of the exercise. Again, when the matter came up for discussion, I told Oyetola that if one abuses the King behind his back and by the time he sees the King, prostrates to say he never did, then it is taken that truly he never did. We resolved that and moved on. Then, Senator Iyiola Omisore was to give up the secretaryship of the APC. It was around 12 a.m. on that day. I had just left His Excellency's residence when I received a call from my twin brother, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, asking if I had discussed the idea of retaining the position in Osun with His Excellency, Oyetola. I said no. He pleaded with me to please go back to him and sort out the matter. Until recently, I didn't know he was the one who called the beneficiary that same night, because as I was discussing the matter with His Excellency, the beneficiary came in and I decided to excuse both of them. But before then, after broaching the idea, His Excellency asked who I had in mind. I told him if religious considerations were not introduced into the mix, the beneficiary should be our number one choice. But if religion was a consideration, then we should settle for Senator Jide Omoworare. So, once he left, I returned to His Excellency and he told me, "Do you know the matter we were talking about was what the beneficiary came to talk about? He said if it will not amount to self-seeking, he is interested." The rest, as they say, is history. With the same person declaring himself as the most senior APC leader in Southern Nigeria today, I am persuaded to want to believe some of the things they said about him in the past. From Muiz Banire, to Aregbesola, and to Oyetola, the pattern appears the same. Our Governor and President must therefore watch it. One of them may be the next victim.

PRESS STATEMENT. (22ND OCTOBER, 2026). We Weren't Briefed About PCC Inauguration For Tinubu In Osun - State APC The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that it was not briefed about today's inauguration of the state Presidential Campaign Committee for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the forthcoming 16th January, 2027 election to be co-ordinated by the state Governor Ademola Adeleke. In as much as we consider the re-election of the national leader of our party, President Tinubu, as a collective task which we have been working vigorously and assiduously to achieve through various means, it is our view and conviction that such an exercise should be properly scheduled. We are talking about the re-election of the President of the nation under the largest democratic party in the Sub-Sahara Africa and not the election of a council chairman or that of a councillor which is the reason such exercise should be approached with the highest official protocol required to ease the accomplishment of the exercise. We are reiterating the fact that we did not have the knowledge of any inauguration beyond the social media listing of some names yesterday afternoon by the spokesman of Governor Adeleke, Malam Olawale Rasheed, to the chagrin of the leaders, members and supporters of our party. Aside the fact that not all social media news should be taken as genuine, less than 12 hours notice is such short that many people who would have been around are already shut out. It is our belief that listing of the names of the members of the state Presidential Campaign Committee less than 24 hours before the event proper without any prior meeting with the leadership of the party in the state was a ploy to set the state chapter of the party against the President which can neither fly nor sit as we consider the project as our baby which shouldn't be handled with levity. In our view, the current arrangement of the said state Presidential Campaign Committee was designed to stoke and promote an avoidable misunderstanding between our party and the appointed state co-ordinator of the campaign in the state which we shall try as much as possible to avoid. We are reiterating the fact that we are not opposed to conceding anything for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election but our concern is that things should be done in a proper way to achieve desired results. We also agree that the appointment of Governor Adeleke as the state co-ordinator of President Tinubu re-election campaign committee would boost the chances of our presidential candidate through the joint efforts and contributions of the political parties coming together. e-SIGNED: Sooko TAJUDEEN LAWAL, Osun State APC Chairman.
