The best thing my PhD supervisor ever told me was: “Anyone can find a good, positive finding, that’s not the hard part. The hard part is when you figure out what’s next after you don’t get the results you wanted. That’s when you become a scientist”
Here's my 🔥 take of the week: there is way too much pressure on PhD students to have positive results/big discoveries/experiments that "worked," and I think this pressure originates from a wide range of external forces (i.e., not just the mentor/lab/uni). It needs to change.

How it felt saying, “Yes, a Bayesian multinomial logistics regression is possible in the UPG package for this dataset” in a meeting today. Brb, you can find me in my cyberpunk stats lair.

Done at LSU. Last day, handed in my keys. It was a ride being in wetlab work for a year. Don’t regret it one bit, taught me to be a better scientist.

Question for the science verse: I’ll be starting as a Scientist at a healthcare network in a couple weeks. Not a Postdoc or trainee position, the real deal. Is this when I get business cards? Does anyone still use these?
