My 7 year old has been hearing about racism in various forums. So I sat down with him to talk about it. Somewhere in the middle, he stopped me with a shocked expression and said “Wait...what? We are ASIAN?!?”

On call. Need a straw for a drink. Kitchen is too far. How much judgement does one incur by breaking into the airway cart to use an ETT for a straw. Asking for a friend.

After more than 50 years, my dad is officially retiring from golf due to health reasons. His irons tell quite a story of resilience, precision and excellence. He has passed the baton to me and I’m hoping to pass it along to my sons. @PGA @GOLF_com @TheTodaysGolfer

We all chose our medical profession. Our patients and their families did not choose their disease. The gap between us is full of conflict, denial, non-adherence. The bridge is patience, empathy and grace.

Very happy to share our work published in Nature Scientific Data regarding the first open access physiologic waveform dataset for pediatrics! Much of healthcare data should be open access to accelerate the rate of scientific discovery. nature.com/articles/s41597-0…

I feel like most of what we historically referred to as the art of medicine is currently embodied by our social workers. Tremendous appreciation for everything they provide to our patients and families.

Working in a pediatric cardiac ICU where most of what we do is not well founded in sound evidence and most of us are trained differently, imposter syndrome is something common to us all.

There’s either something amiss with my education or my kids’ education. Today, my 9 yo announced that bananas, avocados and eggplants are categorically “berries.” One of us is wrong and no one is backing down.

Working in a cardiac intensive care unit, we are reliant on high-performing team dynamics. Here are 5 bad habits I’ve learned to consider:🧵

5. Stop withdrawing from people. This seems like a safe compensatory way to deal but this is a form of control. It never inspires constructive team dynamics. Instead, validate your feelings even if it’s uncomfortable to do so. Look for a forum where it’s safe to do so (often 1:1)

Many of these are human nature and are common habits. Instead of accepting what’s human, strive for what’s humane.
