Angelenos should not be left to live and die on our streets. That’s why we launched Inside Safe – a new citywide, proactive housing-led strategy to bring people inside and to prevent encampments from returning.

It’s an honor to have their endorsement and I look forward to working with our city workers as the next Councilmember of District 6 to help ensure they have the resources needed to provide the services our residents require and deserve.

I am thrilled to announce my endorsement of @EAAUnion , and the first and only candidate to be endorsed by LA City Employees. Los Angeles City workers are the backbone of our city’s success, working hard every day to do their part in making L.A. a great place to live and visit.

Today we highlight Dorothy Lee Bolden, who was the founder of the National Domestic Worker's Union of America. She worked to fight for women's rights & bring segregation to an end. Bolden began working as a domestic worker at the age of nine.
She would eventually utilize her past experiences to form the Domestic Worker's Union in Atlanta, Georgia. Through the Domestic Worker's Union, thousands of women have secured better pay and working conditions throughout the United States.
In 1883 Lucy Parsons helped found the International Working People's Association (IWPA), a labor organization that insisted on the equality of people of color and women. Parsons became a frequent contributor to the IPWA weekly paper The Alarm in 1884.
In 1927 she was made a member of the National Committee of the International Labor Defense, an organization that defended labor activists and unjustly accused African Americans such as the Scottsboro Nine and Angelo Herndon.
After almost 50 years of continuous activism, Parsons died in a fire in her Chicago home in 1942. libcom.org/history/articles/… #BHM #EAA
