Circular economy key to accelerating Africaโs industrial transformation
At the 19th COMESA Business Forum and Exhibition in Harare, the @ECA_OFFICIAL highlighted the circular economy as a powerful driver of industrialisation, value addition, job creation and sustainable growth across Eastern and Southern Africa.
Regional leaders and industry stakeholders stressed that strengthening circular value chains in sectors such as leather, textiles, plastics, batteries and e-waste can help African economies retain more value from their resources while boosting competitiveness and resilience.
As COMESA advances the vision of โOne Market, One Future,โ stakeholders called for deeper regional integration, greater investment in beneficiation and recycling industries, and stronger implementation of the #AfCFTA to unlock new opportunities for businesses and communities across the continent.

This afternoon in Harare, His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is presiding as the Guest of Honour at the official opening of the 19th COMESA Business Forum and Exhibition at the HICC.
Running on the sidelines of the high-level 25th COMESA Summit, this premier economic assembly bridges the gap between public and private entities to aggressively accelerate intra-African trade, cross-border investment, and inclusive industrialisation under the regional banner, "One Market, One Future".
Grounded in the "Zimbabwe is Open for Business" doctrine and the continent's collective push toward the AfCFTA, President Mnangagwa emphasized that true African sovereignty hinges on ending the export of raw materials in favor of deep mineral beneficiation and localized manufacturing, headlined by strategic outcomes like the freshly signed ZimTrade-ALLPI leather value-addition accord.
Through establishing a stable and highly predictable investment environment to dismantle restrictive tariff and non-tariff barriers, this oversubscribed forum leverages Zimbabweโs upcoming COMESA Chairmanship to integrate regional supply chains across a massive US$1.23 trillion market of 640 million people, translating political goodwill into tangible, shared continental prosperity.

Economies of scale
โ
Stronger bargaining power
โ
Lower transaction and transport costs
