when people talk about the future of web3, we often hear about faster blockchains, better DeFi platforms, new applications, and improved user experiences.
but how applications get and verify information from outside the blockchain?
think about it.
a blockchain application may need information from a website, an exchange, or another online platform before it can perform certain actions.
the problem is that blockchains don't automatically know whether information from these external sources is genuine
this creates a need for better ways to bring internet data into Web3 and verify that it can be trusted.
this is where primus (@primus_labs) comes in
primus is working on infrastructure that helps applications verify internet data while protecting users' privacy.
with technologies like zkTLS, the goal is to make it possible to prove information from websites without exposing more personal details than necessary.
i think this is an important part of Web3 infrastructure because applications need more than just access to data.
they need reliable ways to check that the information they're using is real.
and users should not have to give up their privacy every time an application needs to verify something about them
there's a big difference between believing what someone tells you and having a way to confirm that it's actually true.
think about someone telling you they have a certain trading volume on an exchange. you might believe them, but how can you be sure the information is real?
they could show you a screenshot, but screenshots can be edited. They could share their account details, but that might expose more personal information than necessary.
this is why data verification matters.
instead of depending only on what someone claims, there should be a way to check whether the information is genuine.
This is one of the problems Primus @primus_labs is working on
through technology like zkTLS, Primus aims to help users prove information from websites without having to reveal everything behind it.
to me, this is an important step because trust alone isn't always enough, especially when applications need accurate information to make decisions.
