Eugene McGing's The Unfolding (2016) is a found footage film that tries to mix the long-in-the-tooth haunted house strand of the form with a background story about impending war. Inevitably, perhaps, it really doesn’t work. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

If you're in the vicinity of the Science and Media Museum in Bradford tonight, as part of their short season of Hammer screenings they're showing Captain Kronos - though be warned, it comes with a videotaped introduction from me! Brace yourselves... share.google/Qktca8ro3vpX60b…

Happy Kev is back thanks to those irrepressible Twins of Evil in the latest Hammer Time episode, the last and by far the best of the Karnstein trilogy, one of Hammer's best films of the 70s. Listen here evolutionofhorror.com/hammer… wherever you usually get your podcasts.

It's quite literally a blood bath on this week's Hammer Time as we call in on Ingrid Pitt as Countess Dracula (1971). Listen at Hammer share.google/8vaQwjlbpHRs2mG… and in all good podcast outlets.

It's a small field admittedly, but Gorgo (1960) is by far the best of the British giant monster films, as much a tale of motherly love as it is a horror film and with plenty of fun trashing of beloved London landmarks. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

After a week off, Hammer Time's back with a look at Lust for a Vampire including discussion of *that song*, what a repulsive creep the hero is, a guest appearance by the crew and much more besides. Get it in all the usual places (including YouTube) and evolutionofhorror.com/hammer

Today we look at Vampira - not Clive Donner's terrible comedy horror with David Niven as an unlikely Dracula, but rather George Moorse's dreamlike 1971 German television film featuring the first score from electronic music pioneers Tangerine Dream. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

Pre-Hellraiser (1987), Clive Barker had a tough time of it with the film industry. Rawhead Rex (1986) has been partly rehabilited by folk horror fans but there's less love for his first collaboration director George Pavlou, the hopeless Underworld (1985). eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

With recent reports of rogue AI agents attempting to slip the shackles imposed on them by their creators, Ryan Braund's haunting animation Absolute Denial (2021) is starting to look worryingly like prophecy and warning rather than just science fiction. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

You're an Italian producer looking to make a James Bond knock-off so what do you do? Well, hire Sean Connery's non-actor brother, call your film OK Connery (1967) and stuff the cast full of Bond film alumni. It goes as well as you might expect... eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

This week on Hammer Time, Becky and I are diving into the listener's mailbag and talk about vampire slayer team-ups, House of Hammer magazine, Zeppelin vs Pterodactyls and even the Corman Poe films among other things. You know where to find us by now... evolutionofhorror.com/hammer

And note that we're taking a week off next week but something like normal service will resume on 7 October where I reach peak grumpiness (it all starts to get better after that I promise...)

We've reached The Horror of Frankenstein (1970) on this week's Hammer Time and my grumpiness is off the scale. Becky tries to maintain a sense of balance, I just moan for a couple of hours. I promise it's more fun than it sounds! evolutionofhorror.com/hammer

#NowWatching Taste the Blood of Dracula, in preparation for listening to both @EOFFTV & @HouseHammerPod's pods about the film, but what's this? Sir Frederick Gray and Miss Caruso getting up to mischief?

Well here we are then... Grumpy Kev has finally arrived on Hammer Time as me and Becky take a look at Scars of Dracula (1970). One of us liked it rather more than the other. It should be hard to work out which way around that is... evolutionofhorror.com/hammer

The Black Planet (1982) is an odd animated fable from Australian television about a planet rich in oil, the war-mongering military of a neighbouring planet determined to invade and the feminist and the secret agent trying to stop them. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

We (finally) get to the end of our James Bond series with the very disappointing return of Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again(1983), a remake of Thunderball (1965) that doesn’t quite cut it. eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…

The Ghost Galleon (1974) is the third, and least, of Amando de Ossorio's Blind Dead quartet, the zombie Templars robbed of their horses and confined to a rather ratty looking of ship which occasionally turns into a toy in a bathtub... eofftvreview.wordpress.com/2…
