✍️Wesley T. @Schiphol Group: "Pilot with the Iron Flow Battery started! The time has come! The first Iron Flow Battery at an airport is operational! Since Monday 22 April, the Iron Flow Battery has been tested on Schiphol's AB platform. In collaboration with the project team consisting of colleagues from @VolkerInfra, KES, @SchneiderElecDE, @ESS_info and Schiphol, the pilot has started after a thorough preparation and E-GPUs are being charged despite the grid limitations that exist on the AB platform. Phase 1 out of 3! To ensure that the use of the battery and the E-GPUs lands well on the AB platform, there will be 3 pilot phases. First of all, 5 available E-GPUs are being tested that will power the VOPS A31 to A33. During this phase, KES will be responsible for dragging to and from the battery and for full E-GPUs during handling. With the use of the first E-GPUs, a start has been made on the phasing out of polluting diesel GPUs on the AB platform. In view of regulations and the zero emission targets, this is a great step forward. After the first insights were collected, the project team decided to increase the number of E-GPUs and phase 2 has recently started. Phase 2 out of 3! In this 2nd phase, 8 E-GPUs have been placed on the AB platform. Because there are more E-GPUs available, it is possible to occupy 4 and sometimes even 5 VOPS with E-GPUs and therefore not use diesel GPUs on the A30 strip. This also gives the opportunity to test what is possible with the Iron Flow Battery in combination with this material.
