Ron Baron is 83. In front of thousands of investors in New York, he looked at Elon Musk and asked the one question an 83-year-old asks. "How do you want people to think about you?" For the full hour before, it had been trillion-dollar chip fabs. Starship. Starlink. The business of the richest man alive. Then Baron added, quieter: "Nobody would work the way you work just to accumulate money." Elon paused. "I'd like the reality to be that I made a significant contribution in the furtherance of civilization." One sentence. Civilization. And then, in the same room, he told them about Jose. Jose is the guy in the meme. One man digging a hole in the road. Eight men standing around watching him dig. "Unless you increase the number of Joses in the country, the amount of work done does not increase." "I aspire to be Jose." "We do actual work." This from a man who lives in an Airstream parked next to his power plant in Memphis. Who pulls power cables "the size of an anaconda" with his own hands. Asked how he wants history to remember him, he said civilization. Asked who he wants to be, he said the guy with the shovel. The richest man in the world wants to dig. 🇺🇸🚀

Glad to hear he will face some consequences to his irresponsible and horrific actions.
Sad to say @profgalloway is an investor in Boom. I don't mind disagreements but calling for an execution of a non-criminal (worse, an actual hero!) is a step too far. Working to arrange a buy-out of his shares.

Wow. And I mean wow... Scott Galloway has completely lost the plot, and his vile attack on Elon is fkn disgraceful. Calling Elon a “traitor to the West” is outrageous enough, but invoking the Rosenbergs, who were executed for Soviet espionage, and demanding he be held to the same standards... are you kidding me??? This crosses a line that no decent person should defend. After the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the attempts on Trump's life, he should know better than to make such reckless comments Elon has worked tirelessly, devoting his life to helping improve the lives of others. And remember, he was a champion for the Left for most of his professional adulthood - like so many democrats, he sided with Trump in 2024 only out of concern for open borders, chaos and lack of safety in many western cities, and runaway deficits. His concern in Ukraine was for the loss of millions of lives; that these stupid endless wars are futile and for nought - he was right!!! What pisses me off is that the big left election wave, which I largely celebrated (I am a libertarian who hates wars, despite my past support of Trump), COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT FREE SPEECH and a platform like X. Given the total impotence of Bluesky and Threads, many lefties returned to X, and this very platform played a very pivotal role for all Democrat activists to make their voices heard. And what about our lives? Aren’t they better for Elon? He has helped revolutionise space exploration, transformed the electric vehicle industry, accelerated green energy, championed many liberal causes, and pioneered life-changing technology with Neuralink. Many of those achievements advance the very causes Democrats have spent decades claiming to be their platform. Like millions of people, and myself, Elon supported Trump's policies because he believed they offered a better future, not because he signed away his right to disagree with the president. And when Trump made the catastrophic mistake of escalating the war with Iran, many of us who supported the President felt profoundly betrayed. But since when did political disagreement become treason, and since when did supporting the wrong candidate justify comparisons to people executed for espionage? Scott is perfectly entitled to criticise Elon's decisions, but using political hatred to fuel moral superiority while invoking executions is a grotesque abuse of his platform. He owes Elon an unequivocal apology, a full retraction, and some serious reflection on the dangerous rhetoric he's helping normalise. Source: ZeroHedge

I'm pretty shocked - I knew he was clearly a predator but have to say I didn't see him going that far down the evil rabbit hole. Good to see justice served and hopefully we can all be better at calling out that behaviour before it hurts people.
Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault. I'm shocked because I was certain he would get away with his crimes. The fact that Brand is a rapist was an open secret on the British comedy circuit. A friend of mine knows one of his victims. One of the things I learned over the last few years is how many people in the entertainment industry are good, decent people and how many are compromised by their own desire for power, money and clicks. Francis and I shared what we knew about Brand with people who were thinking of working with him and many of them immediately recognised we were telling the truth and stopped any association with him. Others, not so much. This is even more true of his former employers like Channel 4 and the BBC. I am not saying everyone at those organisations knew but many people definitely did and they not only didn't say anything, some of them actively protected him. I hope the verdict today brings closure and peace to his victims and serves as a reminder to powerful people who abuse their position to take advantage of others that they won't get away with it forever.

Dutch RDW updates approval for FSD to TAD and changes other elements like max offset to 10%. These were requested by @teslaeurope and follows discussions with the German government. Hopefully this means a positive EU vote soon and Tesla can turn to getting approval in the UK. rdw.nl/en/news/2026/rdw-appr…

I'm so confused by this kind of thing. 'Make sure you give something back' Elon literally paid the highest tax bill ever, his 'wealth' is distributed in the jobs it creates and the opportunities it creates. He isn't 'spending' his wealth he is using it to invest in humanity.
Steven Bartlett asks James Talarico how Texas chases “equality” without chasing off figures like @ElonMusk. Talarico’s answer: Musk’s net worth is a “spiritual sickness,” and the rich should pay something closer to the 1950s rate of 90%. BARTLETT: “What would you have done to stop [Elon from becoming a trillionaire]?” TALARICO: “We at one point in this country, we had, I think it was in the 1950s, had a top marginal tax rate of 90%. I don’t think it needs to be that high, but we used to have a political system and an economic system that more fairly distributed the fruits of our labor.” “And I think the thing that really upsets people, particularly about the Elon example, is that Tesla was successful because of taxpayer dollars, right? Tesla got investment from the federal government, which is why it has been so successful.” CONTEXT: The taxpayer dollars Tesla received were a LOAN from the Department of Energy in 2010. Ford got $5,900,000,000, and Nissan got $1,400,000,000 from the same program. But Tesla did something those automakers hadn’t. It repaid the full $465,000,000 it had borrowed, with interest, 9 years ahead of schedule, becoming the first automaker in the program to pay its loan back in full.

It’s the same thing every time: 1. A black person has the courage to point the objective truth about slavery. 2. Person gets personally attacked with subjective opinions - “you hate black people, you’re a coon” 3. But that person is saying what is needed to emancipate both black people and white people from the mental slavery that black victimhood and white guilt has us all in. No, black people who say the truth do not hate black people. Someone who loves you will tell you what you need to hear, even if you don’t want to hear it. Good video from @chadojackson

Question for UK EV drivers: what's the cheapest rate you pay per kWh at home, and which tariff is it? Off-peak puts running costs at about 2p a mile, against about 22p for petrol. I'm gathering the best answers for my newsletter. Run your numbers here: switch2ev.uk/savings-snapsho…

This really shocked me - not sure how you can claim to be 'one of the people' when you have barely worked as one of them...Conservatives looking far more 'real' vs Labour.

Starlink saves lives
Starlink became a lifeline for rescuers in England. A walker fell down a steep bank into a hornet’s nest near Wetheral. The rescue team had no mobile signal where they were training. Starlink in their control vehicle got the emergency call through. Rescuers reached the walker, used ropes to lift them up the bank on a stretcher, and carried them to an ambulance. This is the life-saving power of Starlink. Keeping rescuers connected means people in danger can get the help they urgently need.

He didn’t criticise Elon Musk’s parenting arrangements, he posted lies and defamation online, directly going against social media rules. He deserved to be banned. The tweet was disgusting, regardless of who it was aimed at.

Notice how the headlines work. A Toyota crashes: "Driver injured in crash." A Ford crashes: "Two cars collide on highway." A BMW crashes: "Accident on Route 1." A Tesla crashes: "TESLA crashes." Not the driver. Not "a car." The brand, in the headline, every single time. Millions of crashes happen on the roads every year, and almost none come with a brand name. But when it's a Tesla, legacy media suddenly cares which car it was. Meanwhile, Tesla publishes its own safety data every quarter. With Autopilot engaged, Teslas go far more miles between crashes than the US average. That's not journalism. That's a campaign. The cars keep getting safer. The headlines just keep getting louder.

Very positive and constructive conversation with @elonmusk today. Italy is looking with great interest at the opportunities offered by assisted driving technologies, with a focus on innovation and road safety, and supports a swift EU approval of Tesla Assisted Driving. Thanks for the exchange, Elon!
