This is why it is so crucial to maintain constant daily dialogue with your children about their days at school and making them comfortable with bringing their problems to you. Or else abuses like this risk never being reported. #AutismAwarenessMonth turnto10.com/news/local/ocea…

It is especially unacceptable whenever an adult abuses special-needs students. If you cannot handle interacting with special-needs students in safe and civilized ways, then this is NOT the career field for you. Leave. #AutismAwarenessMonth youtu.be/9mWcSCs-Uc8?si=k2Pn…

An unfriendly reminder that students with special-needs of all types are 2-3 times more likely to be the targets of bullying in schools than their physical and neurotypical peers. #AutismAwarenessMonth youtu.be/tJ-Qv3s6v6Q?si=U6DB…

We are human too. We have value. We have rights. And you do NOT have our permission to mistreat us because of how we are made. (6/6) Sincerely, –Joseph Evans, Head of Community Engagement. M.A. Ed. Autistic #AutismAwarenessMonth

It is not normal nor just for autistic children to be miserable at school. Your children have rights and resources for justice through you. They are not helpless and indeed have options they can use to defend themselves against mistreatment. (5/6) #AutismAwarenessMonth

Make it clear to your children that they are not burdening your day by sharing their problems with you. It is your job as their parents to help fix the problems they're having in school when they are being mistreated, especially if it is by adults. (4/6) #AutismAwarenessMonth
