Local middle school career day went great. While there with students watching I used claude to build a badge-maker web app. I had proxybox there so the web app was able to print the badges straight to a zebra that I brought with me. It was a hit - printed 300+ labels.

Tomorrow I'm hosting a table for "software engineering" at our local middle-school career fair. For two reasons: 1. software engineering has been an incredibly exciting and profitable career for me personally (35y now) and 2. I think we're just entering the "age of software"

Wade fished the White River yesterday, caught 40+ fish - variety of bass and a few bluegill. My son joined me towards the end - we stayed out a bit late. At dark we still had 1/4 mile of river to wade to get to the exit point, with coyotes howling.

Single prompt built 99% of this yesterday. Multiple prompts necessary to tweak voice. Just was a random tinkering while waiting on something else to finish. For folks who grew up in the 80s - and loved the War Games movie. wargames.edgecraftstudio.com… Note - login username is joshua

Ahh, printers and auto-updating firmware. What a pain. Rollo devices started getting an update to new firmware a couple weeks ago. Turns out this new firmware is incompatible with the ipp-usb utility used by CUPS on linux. Friends, don't let your printers auto-update.

A few weeks ago I built a "dispatch" skill so I could use fable as an orchestrator and codex and grok for other roles during development. The primary motivation was to extend the life of my fable sub. Now Opus 5.5 seems to be better than fable at token usage, normal conversation, so I've stopped using dispatch and now have been working pretty much full-time with just opus. My skill ended up really only being useful for 2w.

Wow. If you need to generate PDFs, even multi-page PDFs, generating HTML and then using @Cloudflare Browser Run is the way.

Made another thing yesterday / this morning. Got tired of clunky broken software. This is smooth, crazy easy to use, does exactly what I need it to do. DM if you'd like to try it. harmony.edgecraftstudio.com/ Built on @convex

I have not been able to stop listening to this song. The line in the chorus that says, "While you turn the weight of our sorrows into a crown" strikes me every time. This is a good one. youtu.be/lGsE0GTSg_c?si=_osn…

I was on the mongodb podcast back in 2020, episode 9. I had hoped it would lead to other opportunities to talk about software, life, stuff I was building, etc. But it was a one-and-done. I'd like to try again - anybody got tips? Or maybe you have a podcast and want a new guest?

Anybody out there doing "reindustrialization" in central / northern Indiana? I'm looking to connect with companies in my area (Bunker Hill, IN - by Grissom AFB), to understand their modernization challenges. I've been doing this a long time - so I have deep experience and understanding of old tech and new tech.

Wow @Rasmic you must have some pull.
We're adding support for AGENTS.md to Claude Code. Starting today in version 2.1.277, if there is no CLAUDE.md in a folder, Claude will check for and use AGENTS.md. You can toggle this behavior in /config.

Last year I wrote a custom windows app for a customer that automates a CNC machine via MODBUS-TCPIP. I'm curious how much that is used still in the manufacturing environment. Asking because I could easily add a MODBUS-TCPIP proxy to proxybox that would then enable access to those devices securely over the internet - bringing web-based automation capabilities instead of desktop applications. Everything MODBUS would become an HTTPS REST API like everything else on proxybox. Anybody out there in manufacturing see value in that?
