Earlier today, Edmond officers responded to the McDonald’s parking lot near Santa Fe High School following reports of an altercation involving a 16-year-old male who was reportedly holding a machete and threatening another male.
Officers located the suspect vehicle nearby, stopped the vehicle, and identified one of the occupants as the suspect. He was taken into custody and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
Due to the close proximity to Santa Fe High School, the school was placed in secure mode as a precaution. The altercation was isolated and stemmed from an earlier fight between the suspect and victim. There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the school or surrounding community.

In the criminal justice system, slow-moving tortoises can be a flight risk. Edmond PD Sgt. Fountain tracked down one such suspect after he was found wandering and returned him to his residence following a slow-speed chase.
This is his story. 🐢 (dun-dun)

Shout out to Sgt. Jason Roach for celebrating two decades with Edmond PD! Help us congratulate and thank him for his continued and dedicated service to Edmond!
EDMOND POLICE DEPARTMENT’S EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
When officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at a home under construction, Sergeant Rigsby quickly began connecting the dots. He identified the suspect, developed a likely route of travel and used surveillance footage from nearby businesses to confirm the suspect’s movements.
When the suspects separated while attempting to escape, Sgt. Rigsby apprehended the male suspect and retraced the route to locate the female suspect hiding in a nearby restaurant.
While multiple officers assisted with the response, Sgt. Rigsby’s persistence, investigative instincts and ability to connect key information were instrumental in locating both suspects.
Congratulations, Sgt. Rigsby, and thank you for your outstanding work!
Sgt. Radcliff is celebrating 20 years at Edmond PD. Help us thank him for his continued service to our community!
Some people know them as Crime Scene Investigators, or CSIs. Around here, we call ours Technical Investigators (TIs).
Our TIs are the ones behind the scenes documenting crime scenes, collecting evidence, processing fingerprints and DNA, and helping investigators put the pieces together.
This week, we’re giving a shoutout to our TIs and all the forensic professionals who help turn evidence into answers. We appreciate all you do!

On this week’s episode of the Edmond Citizens Police Academy, the class got a visit from Solo, the Edmond PD wellness dog! 🐾
Then it was time to get out of their seats and take a look at how EPD uses drones, with a live demonstration.
Another great night of learning more about the people, programs, and technology behind the badge! #edmondcitizenspoliceacademy
